Here are the major offenses: she said Polanski's offense wasn't 'rape rape', trivializing the act and making it seem like it wasn't rape at all, and defended Gibson's abusive phone call to his GF. He told his girlfriend that she deserved to be 'raped by a pack of niggers' for being too scantily clad. Whoopi said: "Mel Gibson isn't racist, he's my friend."

Whoophi Goldberg has been off my list for years because of other things she's said too. But the biggest thing she seems to have going for her is this obscene desire to defend sexist, asshole pigs. Her latest 'pity rant' is for poor ol' Gibson and there have been others in the past. -_-

See, I am so far out of pop culture that I had no idea Whoopi Goldberg was this big an apologist until the Polanski debacle. But now that I know, I am seriously eying other actors/etc too. And then Neil Gaiman has racefail and I sob into my blanket and pray that I won't lose ALL my heroes. (Please, Margaret Atwood and Terry Pratchett and Melanie Rawn and Zoe Saldana and other people, please be awesome.)

I don't know about Atwood, Rawn or Saldana but it's horrible of me to say at least I know Pratchett won't write anything of fail since he quit writing (which makes me cry).

I've never actually heard of Melanie Rawn or Zoe Saldana...

Melanie Rawn is a fave author of mine, Zoe Saldana is a fave WOC actress. She played Uhura in the new Star Trek movie, Anamaria from PoC, and a bunch of other roles.
