Hump-day hodgepodge

Now I remember why I unsubscribed from DCSM. The militant "oppressed" (who, if outvoted, would then scream, "Tyranny of the majority!") have become tiresome. They are too entrenched in their positions to listen to the voices of reason and reality (among them, most recently, fortryll, free_of_whip, and grail76). Why is this one event the hill they want to die on, anyway, when ( Read more... )

Really? What are you presenting -- and what time? I didn't see you in the program posted on the Web site. Sir is interested in a couple of classes in the relationship track, so we may at least hit those.

Do you have any particular lunch plans between noon and 1 p.m.? There's not that much time for lunch, so maybe we'll eat at the hotel restaurant, but a couple of nearby restaurants I like are Dakota Cowgirl and Thai Tanic, both of which are just a couple of blocks away on 14th Street.

I saw both the live transmission and the Encore transmission of the Met 'Il Barbiere' production and was totally blown away! It reminded me what a truly greatt opera this is; not merely a fun entertainment but as fine an opera as one could want. Yes, Mattei was terrific; but it was Juan Diego Flores as Count Almaviva who left me gasping and shaking my head in wonder. His rendition of the 'Cenerentola' aria was one of my favourite opera moments of all time. I cannot wait for this to come out on DVD so I can watch it at will. By the way, the clip you have uploaded is not from the live broadcast. It seems Mattei does different stuff every time. *S*

I incorrectly assumed it was from the broadcast; I was so excited to find it to share that I just threw the link up there. LOL

I agree with you that Juan Diego Flores was absolutely amazing. I just have this thing for baritones, though. ;-)

It will make a great DVD, and I want it, too!

I don't think I've met you, but I do know Master Nick, so I'll look for him and figure you'll be nearby!

I've attended a few of these line in-theater showings from the Met. I loved 'em.

They're going to do it next year, too, with a schedule of 24 operas!

Ah... So, how would feel about seeing Rush Hour 3, I think that's the next big film with things that go boom.

I'm something of a Diane Arbus fan, and I know a fair amount about her life, which indeed did get rather kinky.

This film really is an imaginary portrait. Leaving that aside, I really didn't care for it as a film.

Sorry. Your movie-going may vary,

Has he seen Secretary?
