Hump-day hodgepodge

Now I remember why I unsubscribed from DCSM. The militant "oppressed" (who, if outvoted, would then scream, "Tyranny of the majority!") have become tiresome. They are too entrenched in their positions to listen to the voices of reason and reality (among them, most recently, fortryll, free_of_whip, and grail76). Why is this one event the hill they want to die on, anyway, when they can do whatever they frickin' want anywhere else the rest of the year? I really don't get it. ::sigh::

BTW, is anyone going to DC LeatherPride on Saturday? I'd be interested in some of the FREE classes, but we'll see. I've not seen it promoted or mentioned much, so I wonder whether many folks will even be there.

In other news, Sir and I unfortunately had to miss the Met's live movie-theater simulcast of Il barbiere di Siviglia in April, but a tape of the same performance aired on public television last night. What a treat! Baritone Peter Mattei blows me away every time I hear him, never more so than as Figaro in this production. He's such damn fun to watch, too. Here he is as Figaro, singing the famous aria "Largo al factotum."

Surely I had something else to say today. I just can't remember what it was.

On to Sir's house for dinner tonight and to watch Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, which my sister actually drove to NYC to see when it was released several months ago.

Either Sir will like it or I'll owe him several choices of movies in which things blow up. I've only recently finished "paying" for Shortbus.

Work proceeds apace. It's weird here lately. Tomorrow I interview to join the latest "cross-departmental team," which will be expanding our podcast program. If I'm on it, I'll be writing the overviews, scripts, promotional material, and so on. This would not replace my current job duties; it would be "added value." LOL No extra pay, but it looks good to management, and it adds one more "thing I can do" to my resume. It also is one of those rare projects that would give me some pride of ownership and service (instead of my usual "invisible" editing and rewriting) without being ultra-stressful. It would let me work with some different people, too. It might even be fun!
