Cain came home at the same time as he did every day...nothing new, nothing different.

He still had no idea how to tell her, and even less clue as to how she'd react.

He didn't want to form an opinion before he knew how she felt, but already he was imagining what she'd look like...she, because Cain wanted a girl. A little blonde girl with Claire's big eyes and stubborn attitude. He could just about see her using her mother's deadly little pout...

Then, of course, there was the thing about her abilities. And the possibility Claire might not want it. Fucking shit, they hadn't even talked about kids yet...

Unlocking the front door, Cain was still lost in visions of tiny fingers and toes, already fretting over prenatal care and bracing himself for the dreaded 'A' word just in case when he called out as he entered the house.

"Claire! Where you at, baby?!"

The sound of Cain's voice ringing throughout the house was enough to nearly send her tumbling off the edge of the tub. Quickly she shot to her feet, scattering to push the pregnancy tests off the counter into the garbage. Then she cursed, ducking down to snatch them quickly out of the garbage can because she needed them to show to Cain.

Oh god, could she show him?

Muttering, she remembered to call out. "I'm up here!" She yelled, then nearly kicked herself because now he was going to come running upstairs and she knew she couldn't lie to him.

Opening the top drawer, she dropped the pregnancy tests inside and quickly closed the drawer before rushing out into the bedroom. She really had no idea what to say to him! They hadn't really discussed kids yet and she wasn't even sure he wanted one.

Oh god, what was she going to do?

Hearing her muffled call from upstairs, Cain shrugged out of his jacket, still wearing the scrubs from his last procedure that day. Trudging upstairs, Cain checked the bedroom and found Claire there on his first try, standing by the bed and looking...well, like a scared rabbit.

Raising an eyebrow, he moved further into the room. Could she...nah. Maybe? It wasn't impossible that maybe she already knew, but she wasn't that far along...

"Babe? You okay?" he asked slowly.

As soon as he walked into the bedroom, she looked at him with wide eyes and with a too bright smile sitting on her lips. Yes, she looked a bit skittish at the moment but that's because she had no idea what to expect from her new husband. Oh, she knew she had to tell him but how does one come out with that?

"What? Yes, I'm okay." Sure, her breasts were aching and she felt somewhat nervous which left her feeling dizzy but she was okay!

"You're home early." She looked over at the clock on the bed stand before she turned back to study him. "Everything okay?"
