Betcha didn't expect this.(birthday fun for Sylar and everyone invited to his party)

After Claire found out the address to the house in the Hamptons that Adam bought on a whim, it was fairly easy to convince Sylar where they should head without really telling him what they were going.  She was just a curious girl after all and she wanted to see what the houses were like in the Hamptons because she had heard there were some that ( Read more... )

thread: sylar's arrival(?). humanmapquest May 31 2009, 20:20:47 UTC
Molly ignored Mohinder's huffiness, so while holding Lynx -- who had the same red party hat on his head like Molly's, much to the cat's displeasure -- Molly bounced in place eagerly. She loved birthday parties! Lived for them!

"Are they here yet?" She asked for the millionth time, obviously in deep with a case of ants in her pants. "How about now?"

"We're here!" Came the voice of her partner in crime big sister; finally, Molly received the answer she had wanted since she first arrived.

And with that, Molly all but chimed: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Molly had the date -- the second of June -- circled in her Harry Potter calendar located on the door of her closet. She had Mohinder's, Matt's, Claire's and her own -- why wouldn't she? -- circled so it was only right to have Sylar's, too. However, her own reverie was cut short by not only Sylar's stunned countenance, but by Lynx's paw abruptly tossing the party hat Molly spent a good hour or two trying to put on his tiny, furry head off as it tumbled clumsily to the ground.

"Lynx!" Molly scolded, knitting her brows together as she frowned at the cat. Lynx, ever defiant, simply craned his neck smoothly, looking up at the displeased young girl, and with only a meow -- as if saying how do you like me now? -- he hopped down to the ground to attack his party hat.

Molly allowed herself an eye roll before turning her attention back to Sylar; her face immediately lit up. "Your birthday, that's what! I've been waiting one hundred years for this party -- you can ask Claire, too!" Molly bobbed her head, causing her party hat to droop ( ... )

Adam had gone out early to get the house set up, ensuring Mohinder was appropriately informed and snatched after Claire got Sylar away from him. While Claire had done a lot of the preparations, he'd set things out on the patio leading down to the pool and hung lights up in the garden that could come on as it got later. The furniture was unfortunate, yes, but the former owners promised to have it out by the end of the week, and he'd already arranged to have several things delivered from Montreal.

Lights were out by the pool, ready to be lit, as well as the candle things that kept mosquitoes away, and he had bought a grill that had him near bouncing in glee with all it could do. Cooking might escape him, and baking be his downfall, but he could grill like a pro, dammit, and hadn't gotten to in decades.

Now they just needed the rest to arrive and they were good to go for a christening of the new place with their family for a special occasion, and he was smiling more than he had in a long time.

Ugly though the furniture was, Baileigh had found a comfy chair after helping with the prep work as much as anyone would allow her to, and was sipping at a Shirley Temple and warming her bare feet in a patch of dying sunlight, watching Adam bounce around his grill. She knew better than to approach--it was a well known fact that the searing of dead animal flesh over an open flame was something only those with a penis could do.

"You're making me tired," she pouted at Adam teasingly, fishing a cherry from the bottom of her glass with her straw. "All of the flitting is making me tired. And feel like a lazy schlub. Dude, does that thing have a rotisserie? Seriously?"

"I am not flitting," he said, giving her a highly offended look that he almost ruined by sticking his tongue out. "I am making sure that the grill's at the right temperature for the steaks and the vegetable things for Mohinder ( ... )

Claire dragged Sylar towards the back of the house where she knew the others were gathered most likely because Adam had been babbling excitedly about a grill when she talked to him on the phone.

As soon as she stepped outside and noticed the others, she beamed while holding her arms above her head. "I have succeeded." Her eyes twinkled with humor before she stepped to the side and made a sweeping motion towards Sylar as though she were presenting him.

"Ta-da! The Birthday Boy!" Then she did a dramatic whisper. "Don't mind him, he's a little stunned at the moment. Talk slowly." She quickly stepped out of reach.

Nathan had decided he didn't feel like taking a taxi, and he hadn't driven himself anywhere since he'd paralyzed his wife, and wasn't about to start now. But he had another option, and after a moment's hesitation, decided to go with it.

Sylar's gift proved a bit of a problem, until he found a backpack he could carry it in. Once that was settled, he slipped on a windbreaker and sunglasses and headed out.

Finding the place wasn't hard, he'd seen pictures, after all, and it was distinctive from the air. He landed on the front path. A few steps had him at the door. He rang the bell, turning and gazing out at the yard, hands in his pockets, while he waited for an answer.

Claire heard the knock on the front door as they are all pretty much near the front. She looked over her shoulder, wondering who hadn't arrived yet because she had just arrived herself and so she didn't know who was all in the house.

She was definitely going to have to play 'Marco Polo'.

Pulling open the door, she found Nathan standing there and she smiled a little since she was pleased he had shown up. "Hey, come in." She stepped back, motioning for him to enter.

"Hi," he said softly, turning and giving her a slight smile. He shrugged off the backpack and pulled a slightly crumpled giftbag out of it. "It didn't travel well," he said ruefully. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to repair the damage the wind had done to it.

She took the gift bag from him, chuckling a little bit. "I'm sure it's all fine." She nodded before moving to shut the door behind him. "I'm glad you made it out." She told him, stopping at his side.

So, of course he was running late, even with all the abilities he had. He ran back into the apartment and dropped off most of his work things (but forgot to change his jacket), grabbed up Sylar's presents (motorcycle boots and a heavy leather jacket), and ran back down to the street. On the way there, he turned invisible, and once he was outside he launched himself into the air and flew towards the house.

He could tell they were all gathering around the grill and pool, so once he was close enough he let himself become visible again, and landed in an open area. "Sorry I'm late!"

Adam looked up from where he was playing with his new toy--i.e. the grill--and gave Peter a smile. "You're not late. I haven't started cooking yet, so...thus not late."

"Oh good -- and wow that is one heck of a grill!" He put Sylar's presents on the table with the rest of them, then came over to see what Adam was doing. "Want any help?"

Adam looked it over proudly. "Claire's getting the steaks and vegetables from the kitchen for me, and then I should have it pretty much under control..." Yes, he was a little possessive of his new toy. "But you could help me get them on plates and to people when they get done, or find out how people like them done?" He really hoped there were no well-dones in the group. That was just sacrilege.

Hiro sits on the edge of the group, making sure that he's not particularly seen or that anyone will bother with him. He put his present on the table, but it's sort of hidden by the rest of the presents. Right now, Peter's empathy would register him as a complete blank - he's killed his emotions so much that there is nothing inside him at the moment. He thinks it's better if they don't notice him because this is supposed to be Sylar's big day and he really has no right to be here. But Claire has asked him to be here, so here he is.

"Being avoidant, are we?" Angela asked, stepping up behind him. She, too, felt a bit out of place here, but she had promised Claire she'd put in an appearance, so here she was. Besides, she thought it was probably in the best interests of everyone if she came, even without her promise. Gabriel was trying, after all, so perhaps she should be, too.

He stands up and bows to her. "I thought it would be best, yes."

Angela returned the bow, offering him a mildly apologetic look as she straightened, still not sure if it was proper for a white woman to mirror Japanese customs. Really, it had been too long, and she'd stopped bothering around Kaito when they'd become familiar enough.

Regardless, however, she hoped the look would do the trick either way, and so she said nothing concerning her possible faux pas, instead asking, "May I ask why?"
