Also, thank you for giving me the push to write this. XD I started it right after I read Zero Sum Game and decided that Cutler should have nice things at least once. Though tbh, I can only imagine what a spectacular fuck-up a world with Cutler and Rook at the helm can be! XD
I love Alex. The finale might have tarnished her halo a bit, but she still remains one of the best characters in this show. It was a pleasure writing her, and I have to confess I even shipped her with Cutler a bit in this last chapter. XDDDD I think that under different circumstances they'd make a hilariously dorky pair of friends. XD
I've made it through precisely 20 mins of my series re-watch so far. LOL You're a hero. I rewatched one scene from 5x02 yesterday, and my brain withered. >_I wonder if anyone ever believed for at least a moment that Hal was truly dead? I tried, but... XDDD

Okay, this story needs a Cutler, Hal, and Alex spinoff, because man, I really loved the reluctant team-up of Cutler and Alex in this chapter. I thought the entire mess with Tom and everything they tried was great (though aw, Tom!) and the entire scene in the sex shop, and Alex's response to the vampires toward the end.

The smile he gives Cutler makes it look like he is dealing with a severe toothache.
I could see Rook's expression exactly when I read this. Great description.

I also love that you had Cutler actually fulfill Rook's suggestions to Hal from 5x01 as far as leading the vampires went. And the parallel of the last scene was perfect!

Haha, the world would collapse faster than you could say Hatch if those three ever teamed up. It'd be an epic dramedy called "Three Supernatural Nightmares in Barry (To Say Nothing of Rook)" (b/c he'd be checking up ;)))
One of the reasons I mourn Cutler's death in canon is that we never got to see much interaction between him and Alex. I believe that would have been priceless. XDDD I just had to fix that!

I have no intention of leaving either, so no worries. ;)) But RL is really evil. Then again, so are the fandoms, perhaps even more so. XD I don't know if you've had a chance (or any interest in doing so) to check the latest updates in BH tags: they're all... Hal/Alex, post-finale, sickly-sweet and happy. Well, not all, but most of them. I don't get this influx of saccharine fluff. This was not a happy ending! Wtf is wrong with people?
