“I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For messing up your streak,” Nichkhun was thinking, ‘Your virginal streak’, but Wooyoung wouldn’t have been too happy to hear that. “And continuously messing it up. Like I nearly did today.”
Wooyoung sighed and picked at a loose thread on the worn sofa. “It’s okay. Next time you feel like you’re about to jump me though, please just tell me and walk away.”
“Sure thing.”
“Thanks.”
“But you know,” Nichkhun turned toward Wooyoung and slapped his hand away from the stitching; buying new furniture would be a pain in the ass. “If you want to get technical-”
“-And I never said I did-”
“-I really didn’t mess up your streak.”
Oh, so now he was trying to shirk responsibility? Wooyoung frowned and purposely pinched the thread he had been previously playing with and pulled it out. The couch cushion came apart. Nichkhun could see stuffing.
“Was that really necessary?” Nichkhun asked as he slapped Wooyoung’s offending hand again. Junsu and Jaebeom were going to be pissed and now he was going to have to think up a viable excuse. “All I was saying is that you said it was with random strangers.”
“You are a random stranger. I actually know you less than any other person I’ve been with. So that means this is worse. Thanks for pointing it out.” Wooyoung slapped him back. A lot harder than what was called for.
Nichkhun rubbed his hand. “Well yeah, but we’re kind of cool now, and you can’t say you’ve spent this much time with someone after they’ve been added to your little book.”
“Okay, one; I don’t keep a book. That’s just trashy, and it’s offensive that you would even suggest it. Two; we are not that cool, at all.” His voice began rise and he shoved Nichkhun’s shoulder. “And three; even if we were, it still doesn’t change the fact that it was a one-night thing and I’m going to bounce from you to someone else!”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Nichkhun wondered how the mood between them could change so quickly. Was this kid ovulating or something? He also had to wonder how someone so smooth and filled to the brim with game like him was so utterly game-less around Wooyoung.
“Clam down, Wooyoung, I wasn’t trying to offend you.” Nichkhun said in a level tone. “All I was trying to say, is that you would only be continuing the pattern if we broke all contact. You don’t have to be dating to necessarily be together.”
Nichkhun’s statement was rewarded with silence from Wooyoung. A long, awkward period of silence that stretched like a pair of Hanes, cotton briefs over the buttocks of a 300 pound male. Many would attest to this not being a very pleasant visual or experience.
“I appreciate the thought,” Wooyoung began, a tad cooled off from before, “But if you’re suggesting we begin some sort of no-strings-attached thing, you’re not exactly my type.”
“Whoa, I wasn't saying anything like-wait, what do you mean I’m not your type?” While he hadn’t intended to make any such suggestion, he was still bothered by Wooyoung’s reasoning as to why he didn’t condone that sort of relationship between them. Nichkhun wasn’t trying to sound indignant, but it happened anyway. But, come one, he was Nichkhun. Everybody liked him. He was the universal type damn it!
Wooyoung shrugged impenitently, still a little perturbed by Nichkhun’s earlier remark. Brushing off and straightening out his shirt he said, “Not that you’re unattractive, but if I were going to be into somebody, it’d be someone like, I don’t know, Taecyeon maybe.”
“Taec? Really now, Taecyeon Taecyeon? The one with the huge teeth and ears? The human traffic light? The one that dances like a scarecrow?”
“Uh, have you seen his pecs? His abs? His biceps? He’s built like a freaking Greek God.” Wooyoung smirked, amused by Nichkhun’s sudden defensiveness. “And Jaebeom-hyung said you couldn’t dance, either.”
“Whatever, dancing has nothing to do with looks.”
Wooyoung eagerly latched on to this conversation, hoping they wouldn’t stray back to his issues. Sure, he didn’t want to be talking about what he found appealing in men, but he was at the point where he would take what he could get.
“Depends on the person. Personally when a guy can dance I find it kind of…sexy.”
Nichkhun’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “Really?”
“Yes, really. Don’t read anything into that.” Wooyoung said suspiciously. “And don’t look at me like I’m weird either.”
“I’m not,” Nichkhun said. “I just always used to hear that girls say that because they think good dancers are good in bed.”
As Nichkhun expected, Wooyoung cleared his throat self-consciously, his face a little redder than before. “It’s not that, I’m not scouting out beforehand, or anything.”
“Okay,” it was Nichkhun’s turn to smirk this time. “Jay may be right about a few things, but he’s not completely right. I am quite good at a few dances; especially the 'horizontal' tango.”
