Taecyeon ended up carrying Nichkhun all the way back to their apartment while Jaebeom sipped on his latte without that extra espresso shot. Wooyoung trailed behind not really sure if he should be there or not, but Nichkhun still hadn’t taken back his things so he followed the entourage dutifully.

The walk to the boys’ apartment was uneventful, except Wooyoung kept thinking he saw Nichkhun twitch a few times. But then Taecyeon would readjust him over his shoulder and he would stop moving. Creepy.

Then again, pretty much everything about Nichkhun was creepy to Wooyoung.

First, he wouldn’t stop staring at him in class, and then when class ended Nichkhun skedaddled out of there so quickly you would have thought he had seen a ghost! Of course, he just had to knock his notebook off the little flip-desk in his haste, and Wooyoung just had to notice and pick it up. And as he was walking back home he just had to pass the building Nichkhun was in and notice Taecyeon’s bright ass traffic light outfit as he walked inside. Wooyoung looked at the items in his hands and sighed. The whole situation was pretty funny, but at the same time, Wooyoung felt a little concerned…and he wasn’t sure if it was for Nichkhun or himself.

Wooyoung continued to watch Nichkhun’s body swing lifelessly each time Taecyeon took a step. He glanced up at Jaebeom, and then carefully poked Nichkhun in the back of his head with a pencil. When he didn’t move, Wooyoung poked him again. And again. And again. Jaebeom looked over his shoulder and watched as Wooyoung continued to jab Nichkhun’s cranium with the borrowed writing utensil. A normal friend would have told him to stop; Jaebeom just laughed.

Startled by Jaebeom’s chortling Wooyoung snapped his hand back and head up, looking extremely guilty. He looked between Nichkhun’s head, his pencil, and Jaebeom with wide eyes.

“I was just-I didn’t mean to-” Wooyoung stuttered. He stopped walking for a moment until Jaebeom beckoned him with a wave of his hand.

“I don’t care,” Jaebeom said with a shrug. “See?” Jaebeom reached around behind Taecyeon and smacked the back of Nichkhun’s head. He didn’t move. “He’s out cold.”

“What are you doing to Nichkhun?” asked Taecyeon suspiciously. He tried to bend his neck and look over his shoulder but failed miserably. Naturally, this wasn’t very surprising; Taecyeon wasn’t exactly known for the flexibility of his limbs.

“Nothing, just keep walking, Big Teeth,” Jaebeom answered casually causing Taecyeon to pout.

“Jaaaaaay,” Taecyeon started whining. “Why are you so mean? What happened to friendship?” he paused to give Jaebeom a pitiful look. “I thought we had something special-”

“Don’t try that cute act on me,” Jaebeom interrupted with narrowed eyes. “You’re like a mountain, Taec; who finds a giant, rocky, geological structure cute? The Hulk would have a better chance than you would.”

“He’s green and ugly and wears purple pants!”

“At least he has the ability to revert back to normal proportions; he's not stuck with huge teeth and ears permanently.  And,” Jaebeom added with a wicked grin, “He has a better fashion sense than you.”

Taecyeon glared at Jaebeom for the blatant insult, but suddenly his face lit up and he started to imitate Jaebeom’s grin.

“Last time I checked,” Taecyeon’s eyes glinted mischievously as he spoke, “You didn’t have any problems with my disproportionally large sized-”

“WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! NOT COOL!” Jaebeom threw his hands up and some of his coffee sloshed out of the large Styrofoam cup. “That’s not-I don’t even-I’m going beat you within an inch of your life you freak.”

Taecyeon only laughed.

Wooyoung watched the two men banter in silence. He couldn’t help but think of how they fit the description of a dysfunctional family perfectly. Or couple, but that was a different issue. At that last thought, Wooyoung glanced back down at Nichkhun’s head. A gust of March wind blew a tuft of hair near the base of Nichkhun’s neck out of place, and Wooyoung couldn’t help but comb it back down with his fingers. Marveling at how familiarly the light strands of hair slipped through his fingers, Wooyoung told himself that he was really finicky about this kind of stuff, and he would go crazy if he didn’t fix it.

If he were being honest though, Wooyoung would have admitted he did it because he was suddenly intrigued by the texture of Nichkhun’s hair. He wanted to see if it was as soft as it looked. He wasn’t disappointed. Gently, the wind tousled Nichkhun’s hair, again, as if it agreed. Frowning, Wooyoung pulled his hand back and sighed.

He hated the feeling of déjà vu.

-------

The door that led to Nichkhun’s apartment complex was surprisingly, to Wooyoung, nice. Not that he imagined him to live in a rundown place, but it seemed as if someone like Nichkhun, who was crazy, wouldn’t live somewhere so normal…and clean. He was even more surprised when he saw Jaebeom start digging in his pockets when the little group arrived at the correct room number.

“Taecyeon do you have a key, I may have forgot to take mine with me.” Jaebeom said as he sifted around in the pockets of his two sizes too big pants. Wooyoung blinked and turned toward Taecyeon who tossed a pair of keys to Jaebeom.

Confused, all Wooyoung could think was, why would they have keys to Nichkhun’s apartment? For some reason, he wasn’t able to put two and two together and infer that they were roommates. Honestly though, how could someone like Nichkhun (i.e. someone crazy) room with Jaebeom…or anyone at all, for that matter.

Before he could formulate his own answer, he was distracted by a loud thump. He jumped and looked up just in time to watch Taecyeon swing Nichkhun around and smack his head against the doorframe. Jaebeom yelled something in another language Wooyoung recognized as English. He could tell by the cuss words.

Relief was widespread when Nichkhun didn’t wake up from the impact, but anxiety quickly washed over them because Nichkhun didn’t wake up.

Taecyeon nearly dropped Nichkhun in shock and yelled something back, his tone clearly suggesting panic. He held the body out for Jaebeom to peer over cautiously. He paled slightly and Wooyoung started to freak out.

“What’s going on? Is he okay?”

Neither of the boys responded to his questions. Instead, Jaebeom glanced up at Taecyeon, then Wooyoung, and back to Taecyeon, again. He said something quickly, but Wooyoung managed to catch the words “trash-bag”, “cement-shoes”, and “ocean”. In the back of his mind, Wooyoung wondered why he could only remember the weirdest English vocabulary. Actually, how did he even learn those words? Thinking back, he thought it might have been from…what was it… maybe something called The Godfather…

Wooyoung shook his head and snapped back to reality.

There was a situation at hand.

“Hello?” Suddenly, a voice rang out from inside the apartment. All three heads snapped to attention as Junsu walked towards the door. Jaebeom and Taecyeon started to flail around and rearranged themselves so Nichkhun’s body would be hidden from view. Confused, and now bordering on frightened, Wooyoung hid behind Taecyeon.

Junsu put a hand on the frame of the door and asked, “What are you guys doing?”

“Nothing,” Taecyeon and Jaebeom chimed together in unison as they tried to look as innocent as possible, which only made Junsu that much more suspicious. They didn’t make any move to enter the apartment and continued to stand outside. Junsu narrowed his eyes slightly.

“Are you going to come in or what?” he asked slowly. The two English speakers started to nod dumbly.

“Uh yeah,” Jaebeom said. “We were just about to-”

“-HOLY MOTHER OF BABY JESUS!” yelled Junsu as he jumped back. Immediately the three men assumed he had seen the limp body of Nichkhun, when in reality, Wooyoung had decided it was safe and stepped out from his hiding spot. Junsu hadn’t expected another person to be behind Taecyeon.

“We can explain-!” Taecyeon shouted in alarm.

“Wait…Wooyoung?” Junsu leaned forward and squinted, taking his hands away from his mouth.

The man in question blinked at Junsu. “You remember me?” Wooyoung said as he pointed to himself. They had only met for a brief period of time at an after-recital party and a few times at the practice room, so his astonishment was understandable.

“Yeah! You’re one of the Wonder Freshmen; you and the other kid that looks like that one celebrity. Junho!” As Junsu said this, he took a step forward and Taecyeon took an alarmed step backward tripping over his large feet. Wooyoung laughed at the description of Junho, making a mental note to tell him about it later. He always got annoyed when somebody said that.

Wooyoung was just about to ask Junsu what he meant by “Wonder Freshmen” when Taecyeon let out an abrupt howl. The other three men looked to find him sprawled out on the floor with Nichkhun lying belly down across the tall Korean’s lap. Letting out a muffled, “Idiot!” Jaebeom slapped his palm to his forehead and let it slide down his face slowly.

“What. The. Hell.”

“…It’s not what it looks like?” Taecyeon tried hopefully.

“Taecyeon killed him. Not me, I swear to God.” Jaebeom said as he threw his hands up throwing his empty coffee cup to the side.

“What.”

Glaring at Jaebeom, Taecyeon tried to soothe his older friend. “Junsu, now don’t freak out-”

“Wait…oh my God, is he even breathing!?”

“I’m not sure but-”

“You stupid sack of shit, how can you not be sure!?”

“Hey now,” Jaebeom said with a frown, “Words can be just as hurtful as punches, Junsu.”

“Are you sure about that? Because I’d love to test it out.” Junsu said through clenched teeth.

Another round of arguing broke out and Wooyoung started another round of wishing he wasn’t there. If he managed to survive this, he was going to call up his mom and yell at her for teaching him to be polite. Obviously, it did more bad than good. Maybe he could try to sneak away, but then he would still have the notebook and he would be taunted by the guilt.

Oh, woe was he.

“Okay, we’ll take him inside and then call for help,” said Junsu after he regained his cool.

“Um…Khun’s my boy and all, but I’m not ready to go to jail and possibly be turned into some dude's bitch.” Jaebeom pointedly ignored the looks he was given and continued. “We’re not that tight…no pun intended.”

“Jaebeom-”

“Look, Taec’s the future doctor; he can patch him up, or something.”

“He’s the one who fucked him up in the first place.”

“I’m still here you know.”

“God dammit Taec, shut up!”

Like a kid who was watching his parents fight, Wooyoung looked helplessly between the three quarreling boys. Wooyoung took a deep breath and shouted, “Guys listen!”

They stopped squabbling and turned their attention toward Wooyoung.

“I have an idea. Someone should stay with him while the rest of us split up and go get whatever we need to deal with head injuries, Taecyeon should know. I mean,” he glanced down at Nichkhun. “I’m pretty sure he’s just knocked out. If Taecyeon had accidently murdered him, wouldn’t he be bleeding? And if we get a nurse, the school will probably make a bigger deal of it than it really is, especially since, you know, it happened right after his...thing.”

Taecyeon rolled over Nichkhun’s body and they all leaned in to check for blood. Either than the large lump the Thai student was sporting, he seemed fine.

Jaebeom clapped Wooyoung on the shoulder and grinned. “Wooyoung, you are brilliant.” Wooyoung beamed in response.

“I could have come up with that.” Taecyeon mumbled as he sulked.

“Then why the fuck didn’t you?” Jaebeom retorted.

Junsu sighed and motioned for Jaebeom to help him pick Nichkhun up. They learned their lesson the first time; letting Taecyeon carry Nichkhun wasn’t a good idea.

After laying the passed out man on the couch, Junsu got a bag of ice and placed it on the baseball-sized lump growing on Nichkhun’s head.

“So who’s going to stay with him?” Junsu asked as he gently pressed the ice down. The other three shifted around uncomfortably, avoiding eye contact and looking everywhere except the sad sight on the couch. Jaebeom let out a dry cough.

“Fine then,” Junsu grumbled, “Taecyeon’s definitely not staying, because he obviously isn’t able to handle it-”

“-Hey-!”

“-and Jay will go because he knows his way around this area the best. You can do whatever you want Wooyoung.”

“Well I don’t really care.” Honestly, Wooyoung did care. From what he had seen of Nichkhun so far, Wooyoung guessed that he was a little unpredictable. He even thought he might have a disorder of some sort. Wooyoung was going to ask, but he felt that it wasn’t the right time.

“Wooyoung should stay since he hasn’t been here as long as the rest of us.” Taecyeon looked to Junsu for approval. Wooyoung froze and tried to come up with an excuse.

“I don’t know. Nichkhun and I barely know each other. What if he wakes up, wouldn’t it be better if someone he knew was here?” Wooyoung couldn’t help but be satisfied with his argument. There was no way he was going to be stuck with playing the crazy person’s keeper.

“Nah, I think you’re good. Taecyeon smacked his dome against solid wood and he’s still passed out. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be out for a while. Nichkhun got his shit rocked.” Wooyoung felt his stomach drop after Jaebeom’s words. “And for once, Taecyeon’s right; Wooyoung, you’ve only been here for a year. Do you even know where the closest stores are?”

So that is how Wooyoung ended up alone, with a man he didn’t know, in an empty apartment, with no escape.

It had been ten minutes since the trio had left to get icepacks, gauze, or whatever they needed. Wooyoung hadn’t listening when Taecyeon started reciting medical texts. He was too busy freaking out over his position. The only thing he had heard was that he supposed to check if the swelling had gotten worse and for movement behind his eyelids every ten minutes.

Sighing, Wooyoung slid from his perch on the armrest next to Nichkhun’s head and moved to the front of the couch. He bent over the couch and pushed up the unconscious man’s hair with his hand. Seeing as he didn’t know where the bump was, Wooyoung leaned forward a bit more.

“ARGH!” Suddenly, Nichkhun’s eyes opened and he cried out in alarm. Startled, Wooyoung jumped back in surprise. He grabbed Nichkhun’s arm to keep himself from falling, not thinking about the fact that Nichkhun was still weak and it probably wouldn’t work. Which it didn’t. He only ended up making his fall more uncomfortable than it would it have been because now, he had the pleasure of adding Nichkhun’s weight on top of him to the equation.

Both men groaned and felt another shock of déjà vu. Wooyoung was confused. He had never had a man on top of him like this, let alone Nichkhun. Nichkhun knew exactly why this position felt familiar. He felt nauseous.

But, as one who tried to look at the glass as half-full, Nichkhun took a positive from this situation. Now he knew he had been on top, at least.

Yay.

“Could you get off of me, please?”

“…No.”

“O-Okay.”

Nichkhun had officially given up on trying at life. Maybe if he didn’t move and stayed in the same spot, he wouldn’t get fucked with by the universe anymore. So he kept completely still and kept his face buried in the crook of Wooyoung’s neck despite how awkward it was.

Wooyoung didn’t know whether to push him off or what. He was told not to jostle Nichkhun around at all, but he already pretty much failed that objective when he yanked him on to the floor. And he wasn’t exactly comfortable with having a stranger on top of him. Then again, all of this excitement was taking a toll on him, and Nichkhun was pretty warm…

Wooyoung felt himself doze off as he thought to himself that he would deal with it later. Nichkhun didn’t seem like he was going to move anytime soon, so he might as well take a nap. After a few minutes of being in that half-awake/half-asleep state, Wooyoung felt Nichkhun shifting around.

When he blinked his eyes open, his hands were pinned up over his head and Nichkhun was straddling him. He looked down at Wooyoung with a strange look in his eyes and a dangerous grin.

Wooyoung's eyes widened.  “U-Um...what are you doing?”

In response, Nichkhun leaned down and pressed his chest against Wooyoung’s.

“Do you want to know a secret, Wooyoung?”
