I know that this is one of the major unanswered questions, and there's been some speculation about some (unclear) answers from someone in the
lj_biz post. Well, as soon as the post went up and I saw that there wasn't an answer, I sent in a support request with the exact wording from the open letter:
Is posting a link to prohibited content that is

Okay, whoever wrote that? Needs to get a fucking clue.
Someone could post a link to "OMG you guys, I found this GROSS ASS PEDO SITE, check it out" in, say, cf_hardcore. You click it, and it goes to a forum for pedos, all of whom talk about their penchant for oooo, seven year old flesh (to borrow a phrase from our BEST friend Abe). That's against LJ's ToS, as Abe's clearly stated AND as they haven't stated cealry that they don't want any pedophiles using their service for blogging, even if the blogging's not about hunting/grooming kids (i.e., LiveJournal has implied it with the terminations, but they haven't come out and said "We don't want pedophiles to blog here, period."). That comment that you received pretty much says that cf_hardcore could be terminated on SPOT (considering the rash actions LJ has taken with the pedo journals and the fanartists) if someone reported the "link".

And that, my friends, is fucking RETARDED. VERY, VERY RETARDED.
If people can't say, "Hey, check out this creepy trainwreck of a site, peeps!" and link to "prohibited ( ... )

P.S. The example I gave is a very real example. Someone did, in her horror, link to a sickening "girl love" forum. We're not monsters over there, some of us DO care for the welfare of children, and we gawk/revile/get pissed off at sites like that. So what the fuck, LJ...this is so immensely STUPID it's not even funny anymore.
Actually, since Strikethrough it ceased being funny. It's just saddening and pathetic.

One can argue that it's doing a public service to draw people's attention to freak sites. I would be a much less wise net user if it wasn't for GAFF and various LJ users' "check this out ew!" posts.

Sooooooooooooooo.... I wonder how they feel about, "Hey flist, I've posted new art at my deviant art account" without a link.

What's to stop someone with a grudge trawling through someone's archive until they find something posted years ago and reporting it?
I'm not worried for myself because I just don't post the sort of content that's currently being targeted, my journal is very innocuous. However, even I couldn't promise that in the last 3 1/2 years I've never linked to something objectionable off site, maybe a news story or something that appalled me. Of course, I'm sure that they'll say 'oh but that's completely different and of course we'll look at context and not ban people for those kind of things' but in the current climate who can blame people for feeling jumpy!
Quite honestly, I predict a witch hunt. If I was WFI, I'd be making dozens of sockpuppets and trawling around Livejournal hitting the abuse button every five minutes. And I'd be recruiting all my nasty little right wing friends to do it too. I can't believe that they're unaware of the situation.

Oh yeah, and lemme tell you that's fun. I had something similar happen on DeviantArt once, over something I'd uploaded like two years previous. 9.9
To have that start happening here? Yeah, that's exactly what we need.
They're just not going to stop until they've buried themselves up to their hairlines in their own bullshit.
