Our baby-to-be received its first present yesterday. A long time family friend knitted a bear for them. The bear will be bigger than the bub for at least the first few months of its life, and is wonderfully squishy. We named it James T. Bear. No prizes for guessing what the T stands for ;)

Many of you know by now, but I figured I'd put it out into the wider world.
Mark and I are having a baby. The chances of it being a mutant are very small, so there'll be no wolverine-type child ripping it's way out of my stomch. It's due early January, so my Kung Fu instructor is pleased that it'll be a Dragon (water).

While we can celebrate the many advances made in Western countries, Australian women still earn 18% less (on average) than men. Also consider those less lucky societies, where women are still subject to near or actual slavery, and have little chance for an education or a life without fear.

I'm impressed with the blurbs for Arc this year - I've "short listed" 16 games that I think look interesting, and it's only a 13 session con. But... is everyone else slack like me (i.e. haven't signed up yet) or are ppl so convinced that the world is going to end that no one's going? Looking at the schedule there doesn't seem to be many people
