ARGHHHH I WAS GONNA POST THESE A YEAR AGO, RIGHT AFTER ROCKNRUMBLE ENDED SO I COULD POST ALL MY ICONTEST ICONS IN ONE POST BUT I NEVER DID! Damn. But look at how many icons added up lol, even though it was only during the month of August and beginning of September.
Also, hello everyone, I am back for the month of August to do some icon action.

○ I love shoujo-battle rounds every year, and I was glad that I was around for yet another round! For me it was something that marked the summer, so I was excited when inquisitory put up sign ups. Still secretly waiting for round eight this summer lol...
○ I signed up as
Ayumi Yamada from Honey & Clover! One of my favorite characters.
○ Round seven was casino based and it was fun and creative.
○ The first challenge was to make a "card" like from a deck (ace/jack/queen/king/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10) and since I wanted some bonus points I went and put a suit in it (diamond) made it predominantly red, and ended up with #1 with Sawako. Got loooots of negative crits on the fact that it didn't fit very well, but honestly I had a lot of fun with it and did a lot of queen action with it lol by adding a crown too. I am probably the only person that likes this icon lol. I went out of the box and had a great time! (#70-72 look pretty similar since I made them around the same time and felt inspired lol).
○ The second challenge had to do with slot machines, and I went for the gold bars and fruit guidlines which called for the use of a light texture with a golden part and using bright colors. I don't even know what I was tryna do, but I ended up making #2 with this and it looked a lot cooler when I did something similar in #109 lol so I'm a bit disappointed but it was fun at the time! I also made #3 for the bonus by using lyrics from "Slow Motion" and I am content with this result since it's Q. Lol.
○ The third challenge was a roulette, and we had to use some roulette lingo in our icon. I ended up using "en plein" which means Straight Up Bet because I thought it fit Sawako and Kazehaya's relationship? Lollll I don't even know... but since I was being a whore for points this round, I also tried my best to incorporate the image provided and this icon is a messsssss. I still don't like it. Lol. I made #4 for this challenge. What an abomination lol.
○ The fourth and final challenge was blackjack and it was basically making a set of either two/three icons that are related to chance and are connected somehow. Bonus points for connecting them to any of the previous themes and making the third icon. I was being a whore for points still, so I made #5-7 for this challenge. I wemt suuuper loose again and connected them via all being lyrics from songs with "Roulette" in the title. #5 used lyrics from "Russian Roulette" by Kiss, #6 was from "Roulette" by Bruce Springsteen, and #7 was from "Russian Roulette" by Ice MC.
○ I don't like my typography action in these icons, lol besides #7 which I still like. I remember I did spend quite a bit of time with these though, especially finding lyrics and then images that seemingly fit them, kinda. I'm not even sure if #6 makes any sense, but I thought it did at the time lol.
○ All in all it was a fun round and I enjoy shoujo-battle every summer.

○ rocknrumble round one! I was very interested in the concept of a text-based rumble, since I REEEEEALLLY need to improve my typography since lol I'm horrible at it and I avoid using it all the time since I have no idea how to do it right, ever. The themes went beyond "use three or more consecutive lyrics from the provided song" which every other challenge always does with text based challenges, so it was a lot of fun. Also, astrokittie was running the show so I knew the themes were gonna be awesome!
○ I signed up as
Capell from Infinite Undiscovery, one of my favorite games/characters.
○ The first challenge was "Music is the Victim" by Scissor Sisters. We just needed to use three consecutive lyrics. Bonus points for using the lyrics that were bolded, and being a points whore I went for one of them (rise up from the dead and take up to the sky). I ended up with #12 using this image of Capell and Aya from Infinite Undiscovery, with Capell looking up and Aya looking down, so I found the text pretty relevant for once. Lol. I actually really like the result, lol and I did some ~lazy eraser tool action with the background pretty sure, since I don't recall strenuously extracting this.
○ The second challenge was to use lyrics from the song "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness while arranging the text in a geometric shape. It was ok to do outlines of characters as well, so I did that after taking a look at this tutorial. This challenge was fun, and I ended up with #13 using this image of Sigmund from Infinite Undiscovery and I chose the text "'til the sun goes down" even though I used until instead.
○ The third challenge was to use one line of Gaulish from the lyrics of "Slanias Song" by Eluveitie. Bonus points for featuring a subject with armor or military uniform, and using both the Gaulish AND English translation in the icon. I did the bonus, and had trouble adding some text to the image while making it look natural and it turned out that I submitted disaster #14 (using this image of Sigmund) where I should have used #20 or one without the English translation since it looks awkward as hell. I liked the rest of the icon though lol so I guess it wasn't the worse thing possible.
○ The fourth challenge was to have two characters in the icon and not use the lyrics "people are people" from the song by Depeche Mode. I ended up using "I have never even met you" and knew the perfect image to go with it! Sounds crazy just by looking at the image, but in context with the story of the game, it is when Aya and Capell first meet, and Capell is suffering from a mistaken identity of a hero that has been locked up, in which Aya is going out to save him, thinking he is the liberator, Sigmund. Capell questions her for saving him because they have never met before, even though she insists that he is Sigmund because they look strikingly similar. ANYWHO, ONTO THE ICON. I decided to extract the image, use a peaceful fieldish background from Getty Images instead of the jail cell that it originally was. I have to say, making this icon was a little difficult but it was very fun and I love the result! It is my favorite from the round, and I ended up with #15.
○ The fifth and final challenge was to use the lyrics from "Loser" by Beck. Bonus for hiding a jar of Cheese Whiz in the icon, so I did. Can you find it in #16? So I don't really love this icon at all, and I'm pretty sure I didn't like it at the time either. I extracted it, used some boring lyrics and yet again it was in context with the game sorta but I didn't have any great ideas for this challenge since I don't really make funny icons...
○ Was a very fun rumble and I'm sorry I missed round two. I really think I improved with my typography after this round, so thank you very much to astrokittie for all the awesome challenges.

○ I actually signed up for this round a LOOOOONG time ago, but I never completed the claim until last year (when I was gonna post it...). The icons were due May 23, 2010 lol and I finished them in like July or August of 2011 lol. Go me. Instead of signing up for more 20in20s I decided I would go back and complete all my unfinished claims (lol yep sadly there's more) since I was the douchebag that decided to sign up for many and not complete them. Lol. I don't do it anymore, don't worry.
○ 24, brown You might remember #24 from this post lol when I first did it back when the challenge was still going, but I gave up and just posted it since I thought I would never complete it. Yeah that icon is weird with that random-ass light texture on the right side, I don't even know what I was thinking.
○ 25, help I went with an image of Hiromi looking helpless, took two images and lumped them together. I think she was looking at a computer or something lol in the anime at the time. I think I did some crazy coloring with it since it's an anime screencap and all, and I kinda suck with using those lol.
○ 26, negative yeah I have no idea what I was tryna do with this icon, just that it's a bottom center crop of Aiko.
○ 27, noise I really like this one actually since I've never used that texture before lol. It actually works too, at least to me lol. Shinichiro looks fkn pissed and then I added that weird line texture thing to make it look like an irritating sound thing lol. I also didn't fk up the coloring, yip yip!
○ 28, positive Using an image of Hiromi in one of Shinichiro's picture book drawing adventure/imaginations. Pretty pretty pictures.
○ 29, purple another image during Shinichiro's pictue book drawing adventure/imaginations.
○ 30, sacrifice Hello, the title of the series! Premise of the story, Noe Isurugi sacrificing her tears!! This was another one of Shinichiro's picture book drawing adventure/imaginations, where he says "I always thought of her crying" or something and it was about Hiromi. Not a spoiler since it's episode one stuff lol. My favorite icon from the set since it's sooooo colorful and the image is so pretty ot begin with. I'm just glad I didn't fk it up afterall.
○ 31, scary yeah it's Shinichiro making an epic disgusted face and that's it lol.
○ 32, silence it's just Noe looking Q lol...
○ 33, silly Miyokichi is like the series' clown, the funny guy, ya know... like Sunohara in CLANNAD, Satoshi in Hyouka, Sazh in FFXIII, Morita in H&C, yeah I can't think of great/popular examples. Anywho he's a silly guy and of course he makes silly faces.
○ set theme: close crop well I can't see how this theme can be fun or creative since it is a cartoon comm, so every other crop is a close crop anyway... I liked the colorings I did with Aiko though since I peaked a style lol for her in #35, #40, and #42
○ artist's choice yeah so I always go lazy with these since they're usually my last five icons, and just use some random pretty images and call it a day without tryna match them lol.
○ I think I was going to use #45-46 possibly for sacrifice but then I found the tear image instead lol.

○ Another incomplete claim that I was going back to finish business for, lol. Was supposed to be done July 11, 2010 but I finished about 3/4 last year and did the last five the other day (the only new icons in this icon post lol, don't judge me since I was still feeling anxious about posting for the first time in a yearish).
○ 49, double For some reason I really like this icon. It isn't super complex or anything, but I found it fun to do something a little different texture wise and image wise.
○ 50, death It's an image of Takemoto laying down during a rainfall, but he also looks a bit like in a pool of blood to me lol so I tried to make the icon a little darker and added that black textureness to emphasize on that.
○ 51, ground Hagu is laying on the ground, yeah that's it. This icon is pretty gross since I didn't have anything special for the theme going, I did some random texture action and called it a day.
○ 52, no background I like this one quite a bit since it's simple and I didn't use any textures. Goes back to my older, simple style I had back in the day.
○ 53, sepia Thankfully I am doing this as self satisfaction so I am able to bend the theme to my will, such as making this theme just yellowy/orangy and not sepia lol.
○ 54, quote Might sound weird, but I used to write down quotes from anime/manga if there were any that interested me, so I looked through my notebook full of them since I had a whole section on H&C and came up with "Will the day come when it will all simply vanish? This pain in my heart, too?" from volume 2 chapter 15. Ayu is referring to her unrequited feelings, and how it will progress. I love her, omggg she's so relateable.
○ 55, LOL another theme I cheated with, since I don't do funny icons I just chose an image of the cast being ridiculous, lol at Morita in the background, silhouetted.
○ 56, night pretty image of Hagu drifting in water at night!
○ 57, half I really like how this one turned out! The background was blank, and I did some crazy coloring. Still lovin' it.
○ 58, silly yeah so another silly theme, and I went with Hagu looking Q all dressed up like that.
○ set theme: chibi I cheated even more with this set theme. I think this is the original reason why I just dropped the claim since I hate iconing chibi images, and there aren't really any official images of them being chibi anyway so I just went with Hagu since she is kawaii and kinda chibi looking lol. Lazy set though.
○ artist's choice this is the only part of the icon post that is showcasing my recent stuff lol, and I wouldn't say I'm completely proud of it lol. I llike #64 but that is it (didn't extract but did some low opacity eraser tool action instead lol, sorry Eri). The rest are pretty much failed operations. #68 looks like it had the potential to be great but I just fked it up somehow lol so let's not talk about it.

○ #74 got mod's choice at manga-character week 72, Anise Yamamoto. One of those rare instances that you'll find me iconing a fandom that I'm not into. Lol.
○ #82 got mod's choice at bleach-icontest week 344, hush. I was quite proud of this icon and did some crazy out of the box action with the textures, since it's not really an image you can color a lot considering it's mostly black and white anyway. I had been wanting to icon it ever since I saw it on the cover of Bleach volume 40 since Ulquiorra is one of my favorite characters. Lol where did I even find the idea to do this, I don't even know.
○ #87 got first place at clamp-icontest week 331, red. Yes I get placings that aren't mod's choice, lol.
○ #88 got third place at dgray-icontest week 81, Road Camelot.
○ #94 got mod's choice at ff-awards week 328, head shot.
○ #97 got third place at fmadesignawards week 169, Elric Family. That was their last week, crycry.
○ #100-103 I made some random-ass Glee icons. I actually like #100 but of course the atrocious #103 got the placement of mod's choice lol like always at dianna-stills week 47, Glee Live.
○ #104 got third place at game-abc week C.
○ #107 I did some crazy texture action here, lol and I think I saw someone do a similar icon, probably pamparumpum but I couldn't find the icon... and I was inspired to make that one but I don't know. Lol. Maybe I made that up in my mind.
○ #112-118 were made for eriolchan because she wanted some icons of Petshop of Horrors so I made some and the only decent ones are #113 and #117 lol. Sorry Eri, tried my best lol and the artwork isn't something I'm used to.
○ #120-132 Tokyo Mew Mew! Lol so, this was the series that got me into anime/manga and the internets, and even graphics. It was the starting point for me lol... but about #120-127. That was an image I requested from people all the time. I literally made this same request multiple times just for people to icon each of the character's in the image. Turns out a lot had already attempted the image (it was a TMM forum so not too surprising) and just sent me the icon lol. That was back in 2006. Then I was thinking about it (last year) and talking it over with a friend from ~that era and I realized I never made my own versions of it. Lol. So I tried my hand at it as well, and damn that image was low quality and I searched for higher quality ones but to no avail. It was a lot of fun though, and it was very nostalgic lol.
○ #133 was a remake of an icon I did at the end of 2007 when I had thought I ~peaked in the icon world, lol. Boy was I wrong. I still gots a way to go. So what I did was I went back to the .psd and tweaked it enough to get this result. I felt like the icon from 2007 still had the potential to be pretty, even though it was contrasted as fk lol but luckily I keep all my .psds so I just went back to it. I should dedicate a post to stuff like that. Wow. It was a lot of fun.

○ The rundown is that usually Eri did the extracting and then we both sent each other some background/texture action and we had many results. We critiqued the colorings until we both found it right and BAM we did it, lol.

○ set theme: close crop well I can't see how this theme can be fun or creative since it is a cartoon comm, so every other crop is a close crop anyway... I liked the colorings I did with Aiko though since I peaked a style lol for her in #35, #40, and #42
○ artist's choice yeah so I always go lazy with these since they're usually my last five icons, and just use some random pretty images and call it a day without tryna match them lol.
○ I think I was going to use #45-46 possibly for sacrifice but then I found the tear image instead lol.

Notes:
○ Another incomplete claim that I was going back to finish business for, lol. Was supposed to be done July 11, 2010 but I finished about 3/4 last year and did the last five the other day (the only new icons in this icon post lol, don't judge me since I was still feeling anxious about posting for the first time in a yearish).
○ 49, double For some reason I really like this icon. It isn't super complex or anything, but I found it fun to do something a little different texture wise and image wise.
○ 50, death It's an image of Takemoto laying down during a rainfall, but he also looks a bit like in a pool of blood to me lol so I tried to make the icon a little darker and added that black textureness to emphasize on that.
○ 51, ground Hagu is laying on the ground, yeah that's it. This icon is pretty gross since I didn't have anything special for the theme going, I did some random texture action and called it a day.
○ 52, no background I like this one quite a bit since it's simple and I didn't use any textures. Goes back to my older, simple style I had back in the day.
○ 53, sepia Thankfully I am doing this as self satisfaction so I am able to bend the theme to my will, such as making this theme just yellowy/orangy and not sepia lol.
○ 54, quote Might sound weird, but I used to write down quotes from anime/manga if there were any that interested me, so I looked through my notebook full of them since I had a whole section on H&C and came up with "Will the day come when it will all simply vanish? This pain in my heart, too?" from volume 2 chapter 15. Ayu is referring to her unrequited feelings, and how it will progress. I love her, omggg she's so relateable.
○ 55, LOL another theme I cheated with, since I don't do funny icons I just chose an image of the cast being ridiculous, lol at Morita in the background, silhouetted.
○ 56, night pretty image of Hagu drifting in water at night!
○ 57, half I really like how this one turned out! The background was blank, and I did some crazy coloring. Still lovin' it.
○ 58, silly yeah so another silly theme, and I went with Hagu looking Q all dressed up like that.
○ set theme: chibi I cheated even more with this set theme. I think this is the original reason why I just dropped the claim since I hate iconing chibi images, and there aren't really any official images of them being chibi anyway so I just went with Hagu since she is kawaii and kinda chibi looking lol. Lazy set though.
○ artist's choice this is the only part of the icon post that is showcasing my recent stuff lol, and I wouldn't say I'm completely proud of it lol. I llike #64 but that is it (didn't extract but did some low opacity eraser tool action instead lol, sorry Eri). The rest are pretty much failed operations. #68 looks like it had the potential to be great but I just fked it up somehow lol so let's not talk about it.

○ #70 got mod's choice at anime-abc week Q. Yay for out of the box icons!!
○ #74 got mod's choice at manga-character week 72, Anise Yamamoto. One of those rare instances that you'll find me iconing a fandom that I'm not into. Lol.
○ #82 got mod's choice at bleach-icontest week 344, hush. I was quite proud of this icon and did some crazy out of the box action with the textures, since it's not really an image you can color a lot considering it's mostly black and white anyway. I had been wanting to icon it ever since I saw it on the cover of Bleach volume 40 since Ulquiorra is one of my favorite characters. Lol where did I even find the idea to do this, I don't even know.
○ #87 got first place at clamp-icontest week 331, red. Yes I get placings that aren't mod's choice, lol.
○ #88 got third place at dgray-icontest week 81, Road Camelot.
○ #94 got mod's choice at ff-awards week 328, head shot.
○ #97 got third place at fmadesignawards week 169, Elric Family. That was their last week, crycry.
○ #100-103 I made some random-ass Glee icons. I actually like #100 but of course the atrocious #103 got the placement of mod's choice lol like always at dianna-stills week 47, Glee Live.
○ #104 got third place at game-abc week C.
○ #107 I did some crazy texture action here, lol and I think I saw someone do a similar icon, probably pamparumpum but I couldn't find the icon... and I was inspired to make that one but I don't know. Lol. Maybe I made that up in my mind.
○ #112-118 were made for eriolchan because she wanted some icons of Petshop of Horrors so I made some and the only decent ones are #113 and #117 lol. Sorry Eri, tried my best lol and the artwork isn't something I'm used to.
○ #120-132 Tokyo Mew Mew! Lol so, this was the series that got me into anime/manga and the internets, and even graphics. It was the starting point for me lol... but about #120-127. That was an image I requested from people all the time. I literally made this same request multiple times just for people to icon each of the character's in the image. Turns out a lot had already attempted the image (it was a TMM forum so not too surprising) and just sent me the icon lol. That was back in 2006. Then I was thinking about it (last year) and talking it over with a friend from ~that era and I realized I never made my own versions of it. Lol. So I tried my hand at it as well, and damn that image was low quality and I searched for higher quality ones but to no avail. It was a lot of fun though, and it was very nostalgic lol.
○ #133 was a remake of an icon I did at the end of 2007 when I had thought I ~peaked in the icon world, lol. Boy was I wrong. I still gots a way to go. So what I did was I went back to the .psd and tweaked it enough to get this result. I felt like the icon from 2007 still had the potential to be pretty, even though it was contrasted as fk lol but luckily I keep all my .psds so I just went back to it. I should dedicate a post to stuff like that. Wow. It was a lot of fun.

○ Eri and I did some beautiful collabs if I do say so myself. She is soooo wonderful, and it was great collabing!! We used 6 images and got 26 different icons, wow, just wow. I would never be able to do that for fun by myself.
○ The rundown is that usually Eri did the extracting and then we both sent each other some background/texture action and we had many results. We critiqued the colorings until we both found it right and BAM we did it, lol.
○ I do love all of them, not gonna lie but my favorites are gonna be #137, 140, 146, 149, and 159.
○ We're gonna be doing another collab this month so stay tuned! Lol.
