Lives I've Pursued
Inception: Arthur/Eames
Rating: PG13
7,551 words
Arthur could live like this, or this.
Unbeta-ed which will become extremely obvious during the reading of, I'm betting.

The job on which he first met Eames ended poorly. )

fic, inception

Ah, dude! I'm happy the writing style works for you; and that this felt rooted in some sort of reality! Haha, I don't know, man, Arthur and Eames are TOUGH TO WRITE, b/c they occupy such a foreign world, you know? I know zero to little about corporate espionage which feels most comparable and I am like...the OPPOSITE of slick.

I'm really happy the secondary characters worked here, and that the theme felt incorporated rather than bludgeoning. Thank you so much, and I'm really happy you enjoyed those lines! Haha, EAMES. Thank you so, so much!

I am in love with this. The way you write makes me kind of speechless, honestly. There's something sharp and uneasy about the whole thing -- not in a bad way; in the way that hey, life is like that, and you've captured it. If that makes any sense at all. And this is the best characterisation of Saito I've ever read, hands down.

Oh man! Hahaha, I'm glad you liked this, and that it's unsettling kind of; I think that's neat to read it that way. I think life is uneasy--I can't imagine how much more so it might be for Arthur and Eames who make a business of manipulating dreams and shuttling back and forth between them.

HAHA, man, Saito is TOUGH TO CRACK. I'm glad you liked this take on him! Thanks so much for reading and for your kindness. I appreciate it.

Dude, I've already been operantly conditioned into unbridled fistpumps of excitement when I see that you've posted.

Anyway, this. This! I love your characters, the way they grow within the story, and how everything comes full circle at the end. I love the resolved yet onward-and-upward feeling at the end. Your writing just flows and comes together so easily, and I appreciate that fact so so much.

HAHA, ridiculous. I'm, like, super desperate for fic from you all the time. In my browser, if you enter the letter 'p' into the url bar, it automatically fills in with your LJ, haha. Sigh, that is probably a little too stalker-y, but evs.

I'm glad you liked this! This fandom makes me nervous b/c the output's incredible and my handle on the characters feels rickety to me in weird ways. It's nice to know this works! Thank you!

In the most trivial of all responses, this exhange between saito and arthur damn near killed me: "Hey, pull your usual line." Arthur asks. "Tell her men have needs. Bam, marriage repaired."

"The triviality with which you see me now is disquieting," Saito says.

But also, I left this tab open for FOREVER because I had to go hand out candy to ickle children but I REALLY WANTED TO LEAVE A REVIEW.
Because this was kind of breathtakingly gorgeous and I feel desperatley in love with it, in this kind of midnight way with very dim streetlights and this bizarre feeling of safety besides that.

Not a trivial response at all!! Hahaha, LAME and WAY TOO self satisfied of me, but it makes me snicker, too, that exchange.

Ah, I like the way you described how this made you feel! So evocative on its own--Midnight with streetlights, the hush, the excitement. Aces. I'm so glad you came back to let me know how you enjoyed this! Thank you so much.
