After a month of digesting the so-called "new" NHL, here are a few of my thoughts:

-- God save me, but I think I like shootouts. It certainly is interesting being able to see which players do well and which ones don't. I love that Dany Heatley beat the Leafs twice in two consecutive shootouts. Also, Paul Kariya is absolutely amazing again. I

I have to admit I'm with you on the shootouts. They're fun, for some reason. But I also will say that I don't want 'em in the playoffs. Let alone, goddess and consort forbid, the Cup itself.

And the cats have learned not to sit on our laps or on the sofa/loveseat when a hockey game's on if they want to have a quiet, relaxing evening. We do much yelling and cheering, too.
