I don't make friends easily. Most people expect you to talk more and Seth says I give off angry vibes, whatever those are. I'm glad you don't mind the lack of talking. I'm a good listener.

[A pause because he really doesn't want to spill his guts about Trey but the City isn't going to give him much of a choice]

He's my older brother. We used to be close but the last few years I haven't seen much of him because he's been in prison and then he got out and things went really bad. Epically bad--that's Seth's influence again. The epically part. It's one of those words I think but I'd never say.

[She has to point that out because it's so obvious. She's only spoken to him a handful of times but it's been enough to know that he's not one for small talk or chit chat.]

Epic badness happens a lot more than people think. How much older is he than you?

For some reason the City has gotten tired of my monosyllibic responses and decided I need to talk more. Or at least I'm assuming it's a curse because I can't shut up regardless of how much I want to. I hate sharing everything in my head and I've never understood how some people can do it.

Yeah even without monsters, curses and deities. He's three years older. Sometimes, I felt like I was the older brother.

I know. Seth--my brother--is one of the people that don't like change. He...gets left behind a lot because of it. Fortunately he's got people that force him to adapt now. Survivalists would say that's the way it's meant to be though. If you don't adapt you have to get left behind.

What exactly do you mean when you say 'left behind'?

Socially? In my experience it's harder for people who don't adapt to make friends. Everyone else has changed, accepted and adapted. Not that I ever fit in very well in Newport but I adapted enough that I did have a few friends.
