I like your thoughts in 5 very much! It sounds like a structured enough plan that allows for opportunities to be grasped as they come by. I guess Tokyo is where you ultimately want to end up? Anywhere else in Japan you want to travel to/live in? I personally cannot really imagine living in Japan but not in Tokyo, but it might just be because that's the only place I've really stayed in for more than a few days.

Random fun fact: one of the suggested origin for the phrase 'hunky dory' is that a US sailor was walking through honcho dori 'main street' in Yokohama and called it hunky dory 8D

Thank you. Your comments are always so encouraging. ♥
With the sort of work I'd like to do in illustration, design, and the like, I know that I'll need to be in a big city. Tokyo is ideal, though I might could settle for a place like Osaka (provided the local accent doesn't screw me up XD). There are plenty of other places around Japan that I would like to go and visit like Okinawa and Nara and Hakone (oh my god I love Hakone), but I well and truly thrive in a big city like Tokyo.
I expect that JET (assuming I get in) will place me in a more rural location, just because that's where most ALT positions are available, but because I'm adaptable, I know I'll be able to make the most out of it. It'll be good to be able to tell people what it's like to live in Japan and not just what it's like living in Tokyo, because that city is seriously a world unto itself. XD

5 words for you:
1. Mello
2. CAPSLOCK
3. doujinshi
4. Japan
5. dance

Tokyo does seem ideal then~ at least as an initial platform. Your work may take you travelling around Japan, but Tokyo does seem the most sensible place to get started :)

Ooh, Hakone! I'm going to Tokyo this March, and I'm plan on spending one day outside of Tokyo, e.g. Hakone. But I'm also tempted to see the monkeys bathing in the onsen in Nagano! What is it about Hakone that attracts you so much? Help me make up my mind XD

Thank you for the 5 words! I don't use tags for my LJ, but those words would work well as tags since 90% of my posts are about those things ^^ I look forward to explaining them.

I don't know where life, with work and everything else, is going take me, and I won't until I start living it out. Thankfully, I'm okay with that whole not knowing bit. I'll start with Japan and then maybe Tokyo and just keep doing the things that I like to do, in whatever ways my paths in life allow. :3 ( ... )

(Yes, I'm technically commenting off of another comment, but whatever) I pimp the hell out of Kansai. If I end up coming back here for any length of time (whether through JET or something else) I'd come back to Kyoto or Osaka in a heartbeat. The dialect isn't that hard to deal with and most people I've met are patient enough to explain what different words in the dialect mean when compared with standard Japanese ( ... )

The public transportation in Kyoto annoyed me, so I'm a little biased against living there. Dx I know that when I really settle down, I need to be in a city and not in a smaller town or a place between cities, for the work I want to do and also for my new love of Japanese theater and for all the cosplay/anime events etc. Most of that stuff is centralized in Tokyo, though some of the big stuff moves through/is held in Osaka as well. I might like it there well enough. Tokyo people are kinda mean (or at least emotionally reserved), and those from Osaka are stereotypically more open and friendly, which could be nice. *shrugs* Like I said above, living in Tokyo is the ideal situation, but whatever happens happens ( ... )
