LJ Idol Week 19, Mirage

It’s been a while since I asked a parking meter for directions or tried to carry on a conversation with a lamp post, mistaking them for people. Yet these things happen to me on what seems to be a regular basis. Everything I see is an illusion. It is, all of it, there but also not there. A pair of boots on the floor looks like my cat and I might ( Read more... )

Blindness likes to play its mean little tricks on me as well, and I have no vision at all. It's especially fun when someone says hi and I could have sworn they're talking to me, only come to find out it's someone else and I've already greeted the person back. How embarrassing!

This also reminds me of someone I know who had a low vision moment. We were shopping, and i wanted to stop and get my hair cut. We were waiting for my turn when the lady who was with me said that she thought someone was standing in front of me wanting to talk to me. I politely acknowledged the supposed person's presence, only for my low vision friend to inform me that what she thought was a person was actually a life-sized photograph stuck on the wall all the way across the room. lol

So, it happens to the best of us.

A wonderfully written entry. And how frustrating for you all that confusion with light and dark, shadows and colors. Had me spinning just reading much less living it s you do. Well done.

Thanks. Yay, I'm glad the descriptions came through and could be understood.

Girl how I relate. Yesterday I went towards our hall and it was kind of dark and I thought I saw one of the cats. I started talking to what I thought was the cat and when I reached down and it turns out it was a bag that is blue. Crazy, ay?

Great entry.

Stuff like that happens to me all the time. It's strange and annoying. That is why I hate it when people act all glad when they hear I can see a little bit.

You expressed this so beautifully. I never thought about how it is for someone that sees like you do. You have a wonderful attitude about it and I believe Creator never gives more than the human spirit can handle ( with His help.)Really nice job!

Thank you. I'm glad it's expressed so well it's something that seems hard to explain to sighted people. I try to keep a positive attitude about all of my disabilities because after all, they are all part of me. I agree about Creator and what he chooses to give us to handle.

Beautifully written. Thank you for allowing us to "see" through your eyes, if only for a moment.
