B2MeM: Just a little weird something

Mar 08, 2006 23:43

Yeah, so I've been working on a certain kind of constrained writing, a type which is just a little bit easier than licking your own elbow, and just to drive myself extra-crazy, I decided to make it drabble-length as well. So, if the writing is lower quality than my norm... that's just because my thesaurus got a major workout and this is the best I ( Read more... )

Wow...it's just great, illwynd. I loved every word of it. You are a very talented writer, and certainly with a non-standard way of thinking. Thanks for sharing!

I meant to reply to this earlier, but I was trying to figure out your constraint! It's not: no verbs, no adjectives, no nouns, no adverbs, no repeated words, no "the", no "tree" (I thought it might be because it's Entish), I think that Lilan bolding your name should be a clue but I just can't quite grasp it -- omg tell me tell me!

In other news - this is wonderful! I particuarly like this mistaking Fangorn’s drowse of watchful continuing for weak downfall.
And the formatting is gorgeous.

And ok, I'll let you in on the secret... it's a toughie, yes yes... count the letters in the first line, that'll give you a clue if you remember your math classes...

3141592... getting it yet?

Ok... would have been funnier if this were about the perfect roundness of the Ring, but I couldn't make that work...

Yep. It's pi. To 101 digits. Haha! I think Ents would have had time to measure circles. See why it nearly broke my brain? ^__~ (oh, and if you like this idea... this here poem inspired me, and is far better than mine...)

Oh, see, my brain would never ever ever consider anything mathematical. But I do feel better knowing it wasn't something totally obvious (to me)! :)

I used to try and write poems with some sort of format like this, being inspired by e.e.cummings, but gave it up after a while. Alas, I don't hardly ever do indentations any more. :(

But, this, this is lovely, in both form and function. :) The design assists the poem along to a rooted conclusion.

Ooh neat! I adore e.e.cummings. A book of his poems was one of the two books I brought with me when I went backpacking for half a year, once. ^_^

Thanks! It's good to know that I wasn't barking up the wrong tree when I wrote this! ;)
