I'm in the office today. The aircon has decided to blow cold air at us. It's minus six outside and it thinks we need to cool down ( Read more... )

We had that a few weeks ago. If it drops below 16C you're entitiled to go home.

Couldn't you just turn the air con off? It's be better than getting cold air blown in.

Failing that - burn your desks and dance round them.

They've rebooted it which seems to have done the trick. I prefer your suggestion though.

Umm.. yeah, go home! I don't know about the law over in the UK, but that would be against the law here. Is your boss Scrooge? Don't take that cinder of coal!

It's now been sorted. Just a crazy situation. I should be at home dreaming of pink elephants.

If you've got any ideas on how to slay them, let me know. I'm in the market.

Sounds like the opposite of my job. I was so hot the other day that I had to buy a short sleeved shirt to work in.

Fortunately, I do run an apparel shop, so I knew where to get one nice and cheap...

...incidentally, do you know how difficult it is to sell winter coats to people when it's 90 degrees inside the store? >_

Sounds wonderful just at the moment. Fancy a swap?

I would definitely rather be too cold than too hot. This is a constant source of argument between myself and my boyfriend, who is a dedicated hotbox.

Of course I was raised in Upstate New York, apparently didn't find it *quite* cold enough, and therefore chose to go to college in Montreal... where my face would often turn satisfyingly numb from extreme cold the moment I opened my door. :P

I kinda miss that feeling, but I must admit that it's pretty handy to actually *know* when my nose is runny instead of just having the snot instantly freeze to my face.

^That's not an experience I ever want to try. We're probably not cold enough for you here in England right now.

Doing any writing at the moment? (she asked innocently whilst hoping for quality B/Gsomeness).

Good thing about working in a residential home if the heat goes out it gets fixed right away, and if it can't be fixed we move to were there is heat. I am already tired winter and all the snow, but living in Iowa it something you get used to.

I can see why a residential home would be a priority.

Not getting used to the weather is an important characteristic of the UK. We enjoy the suffering. ;)
