Possible T'Pring Appearance in ST:XII?

...as I discovered over at ontd_startrek

I am being very nervous about this.

T'Pring is quite possibly my favorite female character from TOS. She's completely badass. She's also the reason Kirk and Spock hump each other on the ground, you know? So, if T'Pring is in the movie, I'll probably be very happy and melt into a puddle of squee. ( Unless they fuck it up. )

t'pring, kirk, spock, uhura, st:xi

I'm worried that the introduction of T'Pring = pon-farr, and I don't know of I trust the writers with pon-farr, especially if it leads to Spuhura pon-farr sexing :/

That said, is it definitely T'Pring, for sure? I just heard 'female Vulcan', and thought it could be T'Pau or something.

No, it's not for sure that it's T'Pring. T'Pau would be awesome too, though! And if it is T'Pau, could that mean that XII might touch on Vulcan's destruction? *is hopeful* Or maybe this Vulcan just appears in a flashback or something. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hate to say it, but I don't trust the writers with pon-farr. Like a lot of people have said, many new fans don't know what pon-farr is, and I don't think they'd have time to explain it in XII without it being confusing. I also wouldn't want them to turn it into a joke type thing (it's one thing to joke about it in fandom, but in canon Spock was HORRIFIED when it happened; I wouldn't want the movie to mock him with it).

Man, if they do include T'Pring, I will be terrified. I don't think they're very good at strong female characters, with maybe the exception of Amanda, though they even cut out the one bad ass scene she had when she told Sarek off after Spock got into a fight. I sort of hope Uhura doesn't know about T'Pring and Spock's betrothal and it will create discord that will either lead to a break up or will at least give their relationship some good conflict and give it meaning.

I will kill if there are love triangles of any shape or form. KILL, I tell you. This is Star Trek, not One Tree Hill. I don't have as much faith in the writers as a lot of people seem to, as I hated Transformers, I never cared for Lost or anything else Abrams did, and I really don't want STXI to be the one and only exception to things I like by this team.

This. This forever.

I loved that Amanda scene; Sarek's face was priceless ^.^ I, too, think that Spock's betrothal could add an interesting layer to Spock and Uhura's relationship, but I'm still nervous that if they go that route it'll turn into something icky. And if there are love triangles, I will gladly provide you with weapons.
