...as I discovered over at
ontd_startrek I am being very nervous about this.
T'Pring is quite possibly my favorite female character from TOS. She's completely badass. She's also the reason Kirk and Spock hump each other on the ground, you know? So, if T'Pring is in the movie, I'll probably be very happy and melt into a puddle of squee.
We're all familiar with my "Let's Win Some Friends!" thoughts on what happened with Uhura in ST:XI, so I can't help but be UTTERLY TERRIFIED that the same thing will happen with T'Pring. Yeah, she was a "love interest" for Spock in TOS. But was she really? She and Spock were in an arranged marriage that neither of them wanted, and to get out of it she made it so Spock had to fight his captain in a death-match. That just screams "tender feelings," doesn't it?
I'm worried about what the writers might have in store for her in the next film. Will she show up and be all, "I don't want you," to Spock? Will something (and by "something" I mean love-drama) happen between her and Kirk (pleasenopleasenopleaseno)? Will there be a love-triangle thing with her, Spock, and Uhura (OHGODpleasenopleasenopleaseno!!!)? I'M SCARED WHAT DO I DO?!?!
I hope that if she does show up, she has Stonn in tow. I love them as a couple, and it would be fun seeing how Spock might react to the news that GUESS WHAT? YOU'RE BETROTHED IS CHEATING TOO! BUT WAIT! If this new Vulcan female is going to be T'Pring, than that would undoubtedly mean that Spock was "cheating" on her with Uhura. How would T'Pring feel about this? She probably wouldn't care. How would Uhura feel about this? I think she would care quite a lot. And would Spock have to run into the arms of Captain Fine in order to overcome his shame at betraying the women in his life?
So, on the one hand, maybe!T'Pring makes me happy. On the other, OMG, WHAT IF THEY FUCK IT UP?!
Peace, y'all.
