[Starting at about late morning, one might notice flags appearing around the mansion. Well, not so much appearing as being placed there, but there's definitely a lot of them. Someone grabbed hold of a bunch of cheap plastic American flags from one of the vendors, and is promptly decorating the mansion with them ( Read more... )

[Helena toyed with the small plastic flag he had given her, twiriling the stick so that the flag fluttered a little. She frowned at it, then looked up at him, a strange expression in her eyes. She glanced down at his fingers, and then gave him a vague once-over.] Are you alright?

[What a loaded question. When he catches her looking down, he'll.. try to hide his fingers. Position the box in such a way that she can't see them. His neck, unfortunately, and all the love bites bruises from Russia are unable to be hidden. They're starting to heal, but.]

I'm fine. [Just tired, maybe. No doubt he probably hasn't slept since the 'incidents'. Which doubles into... today, which he doesn't want to get into and have to explain.] Just.. putting out flags.

[He smiles and looks down to the one he gave her.] Aren't they nice? I'm glad I was able to get a few!

[She sees his fingers briefly, and decides to sidestep the deeper part of the conversation.]

Yes, they're nice. I'm surprised the vendors even have them. You must have been putting them up for quite a while.

[A pause. Unfortunately for America, she remembers why the date is important. Fortunately for America, she's tactful enough to at least not mention it.]

...I'm sorry about the date.

[Oh, well, I guess not.]

Haha, yeah, that's what I thought, too! But I haven't been doing it for that long, really..

[He... obviously didn't expect that anyone actually knew, and he lowers his eyes for a moment. His smile might have a twinge of sadness to it.]

Well, I mean.. it's... [Deep breath.] It does suck, yeah.. but things have been getting better because of it. My boss's have been turning it into a positive thing, and all of my people have stuck together so well..

[Enjoy your flag. He thinks about it, really thinks about it, and chuckles a bit.]

Ohhh, well. No, not yet.

It's.. well.. something that happened a few years ago.

[Here is Kite, staring at your flags. What is this nonsense.]

Is this really necessary...?

[It takes him a moment, but he does notice the finger splint as well. The AI frowns.] You have sustained damage.

I should have sued you on behalf of the East India Company for infringement.

[ guess who's been stalking watching for a few minutes? And it's easy to tell by the of his voice that he's being sardonic. Mostly. ]

[Augh what is it with the stalking? D: He finishes putting a flag on a lamp shade because he's so hardcore.]

It's my design. And anyway our flags look nothing alike. [He seriously hopes he's joking. Because he's joking, too. Partially.]

And besides, they don't exist anymore, so otherwise the design's going to waste! [He has a flag in his hand but he's debating on giving England one. Uhh.]

Replace the stars with a Union Jack, and it's a near exact match.

[ England already has a flag he grabbed from nearby. He gives it a small twirl before putting it into his back pocket ]

What daft holiday are you celebrating now?

Yeah, but everyone likes the stars better.

[It actually makes America really happy to see England has a flag. Like seriously. Of course, it's lost when he asks a question, and he huffs a bit.]

It's not a holiday. It's a.. [He pauses, considers, and kind of gives England a blank look.] ...you told me not to tell you any 'future' events. [This may just be an excuse to not go into it.]

You and I should have a drink sometime.
