you have potential in colouring video game's, but i think your main weakness is how you sometimes make the icon unfocused/blur. my favourite would be the last one since it has cool, warm colouring though the composition is a bit awkward. my least favourites would be the first and third one. the first's cropping is weird and the colouring looks dull, while the third's composition is cool but the background doesn't blend with the object enough? maybe practicing with your textures would make it so. the number two is lovely :)

the best for me is #5 since it have a nice crop and soft colour...number4 is good too, it has a vibrant and rich colour..

the least for me is number #1, because the colour is too blur and the crop awkward, maybe enhance the colour a bit and adjusting the crop will be better ?

My favorite is #3 the negative space gives a sweet atmosphere to the overall icon, also the colour is good, very suitable to the icon

the least for me is #2, I feel that the texture too bold and makes the colour feel..strange..

favourite: #1. the colouring is bright yet soft, and the characters stand out nicely against the wings in the background. i like the border effect, too! #3 is also really pretty.

least favourite: #2. the yellowish texture is a bit heavy. maybe this would look different on another screen (i just adjusted my brightness settings to see, and it does look less murky when i max out the brightness) but on my standard setting it's a bit dark and has a sort of mustard tone that takes away from the image's natural colours. other than that, i like the composition of that icon, so it's really just that one thing!

My favourite icon here is #1.I like the soft, baby pink color and unusual negative space. In short: The icon is perfect.

The least favourite of mine is #2.Too much textures and colors.

My favorite would have to be 3 because the crop is just fantastic, and the coloring is so deep and subtle. It's got such simple elegance.

(I also love 1 because of the contrast in the backgrounds between the beige and the black. Plus, it looks so soft and fairy tale-like.)

My least favorite, though it's by no means bad at all, is 4. I'm not sure if it's my screen, but the top of the icon looks rather oversharpened all around the hat. And the yellows in her skin are lovely, but I think a screen layer with lowered opacity could help brighten it up a bitand really bring the piece to life. Still, it's a great piece with your usual elegance in it!

Aw, thank you so much! All of them are icons I'm a little unsure of, so it's great to get feedback&concrit :)
I don't know what happened with 4, I didn't sharpen at all, so maybe the cap was already a bit crisp and I didn't notice! :)

All of your samples are quite lovely, so it wasn't exactly easy to pick a fave or least fave. You should be very proud of your work!

My least favorite is 2 because it feels very crowded. I think it might be more spacious if one of the subjects were scaled down.

My favorite would be 3 because the close crop is so stunning and the warm, soft coloring is perfect for that piece. Very simple and very lovely.

That last piece has such great coloring, too!

I rrrrrrrrrreally like your cropping style! and the simplicity of your icons.
#3 is easily my favorite. I love the crop and the clean, fresh coloring.
#5 is my least favorite. I'm not a big fan of the greenish tone, but maybe that's just my screen :)

PICK ON ME! I CAN TAKE IT! :) library_of_sex February 20 2011, 10:47:41 UTC
I'm Kim, and I post at sexy_mood_music. I'm leaving 5 icons that I think are rather bizarre in one way or another. I wouldn't be at all shocked or bothered if people choose only their least fave and can't select a fave cuz I myself am ambivalent about them. If you dislike them all, that's perfectly fine. I'd just really like to know what you feel doesn't work in any of the pieces (especially in regards to coloring and texture use) cuz that would be really helpful for me. Huge thanks in advance!

No need to go anon with you :)
My favorite is #1: yellow is your color, I must say :D All your yellow icons are great, and it's not a color simple to work with, in my opinion. Gorgeous texture work, also! It makes the icon look ethereal, and it fits the subject perfectly.

My least favorite would be #3: the composition is very creative, but I think that the edges of the rectangular crops are a bit too sharp, especially in the lower part of the icon.
Maybe it would have worked better if you had somehow blurred them or partially covered them with textures as in the upper part of the icon. (I really hope it makes sense to you, I suck at explaining things :D)

To me, yellow is probably the easiest color to work with. I think I rely on it far too much, but I can't help it. I'm so obsessed! I'm really glad you like that piece, Valentina, cuz I can tell what's going on in the image, but I thought others might not think it was clear enough.

I completely understand what you mean about #3. That was one of the most painful icon-making experiences I've ever had, and it makes me sad that after all that work, I still ended up not really liking what I'd made.

Thank you so much for all that feedback, my dear. It's always a pleasure and honor to hear what you think of my work! :)

I think my least fave is #1 because although I like yellow I can barely make out the subject. The best is #4 because the colouring is great, so is the crop and it's unusual and artistic but you can still see what it is.
I don't know about #5, the heads look at bit odd in relation to the bodies.
