It's time for our third round of Ask the Maker!

Here you'll get the chance to ask icon makers who sign up, questions about their icons and other graphics. You can ask for tutorials, guides/"How to", or ask any other questions regarding their work so the makers can compile a Q&A post with the answers to all the questions they get. What can we request from you (tutorials, Q&A, guides etc. .PSDs are not allowed): anything...though I think when I write guides I can be a bit vague so I might explain better the process for individual/specific icons

I can do one on the 2nd and 3rd I think. I'm checking the PSD of the first and it's too muddled (too much going back and forth changing things) so I'm not sure a tutorial on it will be very useful lol

short answer on the muted coloring: a white saturation layer at 20-50% and contrast set to -5 or -10%

for the long answer and about text, I'll work on it. ^_^

listed some of my favorite fonts here it hasn't changed much except now I basically use Modern No. 20 90% of the time haha. but I'll work on an updated text guide :)

as for favorite textures, I've actually been using a lot of the ones vetica provided in 20inspirations especially the ones in the art round: this, this, and this specifically. also innocent_lexys's Elea 2 and Indian Woman texture set :)
