Room 528, Thursday Morning

Mar 25, 2010 10:08

Emma had skipped class yesterday, preferring instead to cocoon herself in a pile of blankets and try to sleep-off her powers hangover. She didn't need to give herself a worse migraine by listening to Professor Dèmon prattle on, no matter how entertaining and well-intentioned he was.

She was feeling a bit better today, however, and was bored ( Read more... )

Someone had listened to radio.

Someone was Not Best Pleased by the description of Emma bleeding from orifices.

Jack knew Deadpool was not the most unbiased source imaginable, though, so he controlled his worry as he made his way up the stairs to Emma's room and leaned in through the cracked door.

"You look cozy," he said, the slightest edge to his voice.

...Emma didn't need to be a telepath to know she was in trouble.

"You're sweet," she retorted dryly, patting the bed next to her in an effort to entice him the rest of the way into the room. "I look like I got hit by a steam engine."

Jack would happily walk over to sit next to her on the bed. "Tell me why Deadpool thinks you were playing telepathic tricks that left you bleeding before I start yelling, please."

He said please. He was being polite.

Emma bristled slightly. "I was not 'playing tricks,'" she huffed. "I was practicing. It's nothing that I haven't done before." She'd just never tried and done it that far before, or for that long, or when people were having hallucinations.

"I just over-extended myself a bit, darling. That's all. Deadpool is simply being nasty again; I haven't a clue what the man has against me. And I'm even being good and resting, see?"

What is it with humans and having animals act like them? Pounce asked with a rather obvious note of disgust.

Beka was sitting on top of the bed, her diary open in her lap. Instead of going out for a run, she decided it'd be best to write up the past events.

"Doesn't everybody want to be a cat?" Emma asked, giving him a little half-smile. "I can think of worse things to be."

Nice flattery, Pounce remarked, sounding amused.

"We'd all get to boss someone around to feed us," Beka agreed.

"Boss around people, nap in sun patches, get fussed over, and no one is surprised if you act contrary," Emma laughed. "See, Pounce? We're on to your master plan."

Bobby didn't listen to radio often, but when there was weirdness going on? He made a point of it.

Which was also why he was making a point of showing up in Emma's doorway with a bag of chocolate candies.

"Hey, you," he greeted.

Emma put her movie on pause to give Bobby a little wave. "I got lost and ended up skipping through your brain the other night until I found my way out," she said bluntly. "I hope it didn't itch."

"Hey, you didn't throw a rock at it, so you're one up on Warren," Bobby said, pointing to the smallish bruise forming above his right eye. Telepaths being in his head (even accidentally) was hardly unfamiliar territory.

He held up the chocolates. "I don't know if chocolate actually cures all ills, but it can't hurt, right?"

"Warren threw a rock at you?" Emma gestured for Bobby to come sit with her. "Let me take a look, darling, and perhaps chocolate with cure both our ills."

Look, if the radio said you'd been bleeding dramatically, you were going to get a lot of people checking up on you.

Which was to say that even Kate made her way up for a quick visit.

"Hey," she said, leaning against the doorframe. "You okay?"

Emma made a face. "What did that madman say on the radio?" she asked, rolling her eyes as she waved Kate in. "Everyone keeps making concerned faces at me."

"I didn't make a concerned face." Yes she did. "I don't do concerned."

She pushed herself off the doorfarme and took a few steps into the room, shrugging. "There was something about bleeding dramatically, I think."

"Nosebleed of Doom, possibly a little from elsewhere, too," she admitted. "I managed to spectacularly sprain my brain, and I think Jack is going to use it as an excuse to fuss for the next few years."

"Kiss kiss, darling," Karla called from Emma's doorway. "I come bearing headache powder and tea. Not the most glamorous of gifts, I know, but useful."

"I'm happy to accept either," Emma replied, giving Karla a tired smile. "Kiss kiss, darling. I didn't break you, did I?"

Karla scoffed. "Bah! Takes more than a relay race through a few minds to break me," she said, coming inside and to sit on Emma's bed. "Though I'll admit to sleeping through most of yesterday. Though that might have been my body refusing to remain conscious while I had that headache. Shall I make you some tea now, Emma?" The smile she gave Emma was also tired, but very fond. "While I check to make sure you didn't break something."

"Nothing is broken," Emma protested. "Maybe a bit sprained, but nothing that a few naps won't fix." Hopefully.
