Watched The Last Enemy last night and really enjoyed it. Tight story, strong, nuanced characters acted by a stellar cast, Bechdel test passed, plenty of characters of all different colours in all different roles. So impressed ( Read more... )

Having read Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy last week in preparation for the film, I knew more or less what to expect. On the whole, I was very pleased. I know some stuff had to be skipped over or taken out, but since the book was 99% exposition, memory and thinking, this was not really a surprise and completely understandable. Two days ago, I finished the shawl o' doom. Yes, even the knitted border, ALL DONE. In the end, I ran out of yarn from the first cone with only about six inches of border to go, so I have practically a whole cone of 2ply to do with what I will.
