Belated post of triumph
Two days ago, I finished the shawl o' doom. Yes, even the knitted border, ALL DONE. In the end, I ran out of yarn from the first cone with only about six inches of border to go, so I have practically a whole cone of 2ply to do with what I will. And considering how large the finished shawl is, that's damn good yarn economy. I haven't weighed the finished shawl yet, but I'm guessing it'll be around 220g or less. And that's for a shawl, unblocked, that easily spans the length of my 2 1/2 seater sofa.
Pictures to come, both pre and post blocking. I need to buy kit to make myself a blocking wires set first. There are pretty handy DIY posts on the internet, so all I have to do is find a local hardware store that sells TIG wire and I'm sorted.
