Nothing like a family to screw up a family

My aunt called last night around nine o'clock. First off, I hate that people think it's okay to call that late. My parents get up early; they're generally in bed and falling asleep at that time. An invitation that late in the game is just rude. At that point, do not invite people.

I thought 9 o'clock was the calling cut-off time, actually. It was in my house when I was growing up.

It's not just an invitation...it's that they were inviting themselves over like all we've been doing is sitting around waiting for the once-every-two-decade visit from my cousin.

My uncle who lives in California is the same way. Maybe it's a California thing.

As for the phone, I just remember working at the music store and calling someone about their order. It was within a few months of my starting there. I called after eight--we were open 'til nine--and this woman got really mad at me because she had small children and it was past their bedtime. Ever since that, I've been pretty conscious of not calling past eight. And then, of course, my goddaughter (granddaughter of my aunt) will call at 9:30. *sigh*
