I may have mentioned that back at Black Friday, my mom got my dad an inflatable bed. It's in part because dad goes to visit his friends' places up in Wisconsin and there's not always a bed. Since it was a gift, he wasn't able to check it out until Christmas, but that evening, he plugged it in and blew it up. He then set out to test it...and it was deemed a success. I haven't seen him sleep this much in ages. :P
He set it up in the family room, in the space between the side table, the main coffee table, and the loveseat. He had to move the coffee table up a bit in order to fit it in, as it's a queen bed. It also left only a few feet between the wall and the air mattress, so we had to be careful when maneuvering around in there, since it then blocked the path from the garage door to the rest of the house. (Also, by moving the table, it also adjusted where I put the balance board for the Wii. I told dad he was cramping my style.)
Yeah. So. My father slept later on Wednesday and Thursday than he has in a long time. He said he took more naps during the day. Last night, I went downstairs for our regular Thursday night Big Bang watch party...and he was snoring. Guess I'm not watching Big Bang with you. Imagine my surprise when I got up this morning to Wii and he was sitting upright, clearly awake. It was time to take down the bed. He'd enjoyed it, it was comfortable...but he needed to not spend all day in bed. Plus, he was getting a headache. He deflated it while I was having breakfast, and whoo, was it stinky. The outer plastic may have had a chance to off-gas, but not the inner plastic. He was able to fit the whole thing back into its carrying bag, so that's good, and at least we know it works. But he said he had the headache all day, which stinks. Then again, so did the bed.
