Solo contest #2: I got the bass guitar

Feb 17, 2016 21:56

I've mentioned that I was busy this past Saturday; it was round 2 of solo contests, this time Mr. M's in Indiana. I neither went to bed as early as I wanted, nor fell asleep that quickly, but when my TV turned on at 4 AM, I was up ( Read more... )

Once Lent is over, keep in mind that Jimmy John's sells day-old loaves of their French bread for 50 cents a loaf -- and that it makes wonderful garlic bread and bread pudding.

Janus! What have you been up to lately?

I think somebody said they thought the bread was really good there. I definitely know that someone really enjoyed their ham.

When it comes to bread, though, my mom has made two loaves of banana bread lately and I keep thinking, that likely would make awesome French toast or bread pudding. But I can't find out for a while...

Oh, not much. Traveling across dimensions, that sort of thing.

The bread is pretty good. I really love their 7-grain bread, but they don't sell that day-old bread. (Of course, they might not have as much, so there isn't anything to sell.)

It sounds like you're assuming that the banana bread is going to stay around long enough to get slightly stale. But yeah, I can see where it might be great in both French toast and bread pudding. Particularly if you tried doing a Bananas Foster version of either. (Just be careful if you're going to go with a flaming version, okay?)

Fire bad. I don't trust myself with flames.

Oh, no, I know that unless I freeze any of the banana bread, it's not sticking around. In fact, it's been gone for days.

By the way, one of the solos I heard is named Janus. You have your own song! It's a waltz mainly for clarinet; I'm not sure it's been transposed for other instruments.
