As with the past few weeks, it's been a long past couple of days, but I guess I'm getting used to it. Yesterday was a little sad, as it was my dad's birthday and I didn't get to spend it with him, but I did get him a card (featuring bacon) and a pair of sleep shorts he wanted, so all was good. And then, I get home, and this happens...
It was shortly before 10. My parents are usually asleep when I walk in the door, but as I'm taking off my shoes I hear feet padding above me. My mother appears on the second story landing and goes, you missed all the excitement! We have a baby! It's about time, I went. My cousin went about a week late, and being a tiny girl they probably didn't want the baby to stay in there forever, so apparently if they hit yesterday and no baby, they were going to induce. Which they did. Her daughter was born at 5:01 PM weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long. The big mystery: The name. She doesn't have one! Perhaps they were going with North and Kimye stole their thunder; who knows. But she's here, and she shares a birthday with my father, so my dad won. :) (She could have shared with my grandfather on the 13th, or my uncle on the 22nd.)
Meanwhile, there were a flurry of phone calls, but nobody could get ahold of my grandmother. Turned out she'd seen my aunt and gotten her hair done earlier that day, since my aunt knew about the inducing and took Friday off, and then grandma, figuring the baby would be a while, went off to Indiana to gamble! Nice. She didn't get home until 10 and had eight messages waiting for her. How did we find this out? She called at like 10:05. Thanks. Well, at least we know she's okay and that we have a baby, though she did NOT like it when I called her "great-grandma." Well, that's what you are; what would you like to be called? She laughed and said "House," which was what I called her when I was a toddler. Heh.
