Tum ti tum! I'm so all about policing right now. Last week on my special constable training course, our trainer brought in a rucksack full of weapons. When are they letting you loose on the streets of London then? Will you be on the beat?

(I was quite amused by this new Muslim police officer who refuses to shake hands with people because she thinks contact is inappropriate. Is she going to use a lasso to catch bad guys, or what?)

Today, I went to get my hepatitis B jab, on the Met's suggestion. My doctor was rather inappropriate ("So, now they let little girls like you join the police? (I am 5"10) "I'd let a pretty girl like you arrest me" (I am wearing grubby sweats). "Will you be going to Iraq or Afghanistan?" (I don't think the Met's powers stretch that far to the east of central London).

Oh man - lowlowprices told me about this, and it's so very wronge. I didn't know about the Iraq/Afghanistan angle, though. That's a bit of an odd chat-up technique.

"So, are you going anywhere where you might get killed or badly maimed any time soon?"

“Would you let a pretty girl like me report you to the BMA?”

I like the idea of handling offensive weapons, but I'm less keen about being chatted up by an inappropriate doctor. Perhaps this was some sort of test. They'll let you know in the fullness of time, I suppose.

Be careful out there. And in the consulting room.
