I'm sad to learn that Les Paul has died, but also amazed that he had been playing professionally for the past 70 years.

Django fans have reason to be especially grateful to Les Paul, as he paid for Django to receive a decent burial and pulled strings to ensure that his family received a fair share of the royalties.

People who hate America are known for their impoverished imaginations. Luckily for them, they now have this list, from Slate, of 144 scenarios in which America goes down the pan. Most are deeply implausible. My favourites are "Space Harvesting", "Laziness", "Complexity" and "Obama as God".
