Stanley was chosen from his division  by his HM2 to attend an event at the White House on the 4th.

They get to tour the West Wing (which is normally off limits to regular WH tours);
Meet the President & Mrs. Obama;
Have dinner with them;
Attend the concert & fireworks on the South Portico.

What a great day that will be!

I told her to take lots of ( Read more... )

Yes, what a thrill for Kelly and Stanley! I was listening to a radio programme this week about how, with the media, we think we "know" so many famous and public figures, because they come right into our homes via media everyday. But - how many of us REALLY get an evening with President and First Lady? It sounds lovely, lovely, lovely. I've been to the WH several times - never for anything like this - and have met 2 Presidents and 1 First Lady...I was absolutely overwhelmed with the realization of being in their company. I also kept the souvenir napkins and candy box. :-)

I hope you will share photos with us - yay yay for the 4th and for the adventures of Kelly & Stanley! :-)

PS - as you probably know, if there is a receiving line, the official WH photographer will be capturing each meet, and Kelly and Stanley will get those photos, too.

Another YAY!

They're not sure if there will be a receiving line. Alot of the program has been kept in the dark due to security issues, including who the entertainment is.

Which 2 Presidents have you met? I'm guess ing maybe Clinton & Reagan?

Re: Two Presidents...close.

Bill Clinton when he was a sitting President. I also met Hillary when she was First Lady. I have some photos of me meeting her that I intend to find and post someday. Our hair alone is worth the posting! :-)

I've also met Barack Obama - once when he was the candidate and stopping by a campaign center and another right after his Inauguration, at a Habitat for Humanity build - we were volunteering and he stopped by to spend an hour helping out. Mrs. Obama and the girls were across town at an event to pack care packages for the troops, so I didn't get to meet her then. She seems wicked smart and lovely.

Cool! An experience they will never forget!
I never had sometimes like this of course, but it was somehow nice to be in the same TV show (Letterman) like G.W. Bush jun., just before he became president! ;)
I hope, they have much fun and Happy Independance Day for you!
I´m thrilled, that I can be here in the states when this big holiday will be celebrated! Yay!
