A few people mention him, usually in passing. Outside of my mother, I've only heard "you remind me of him" once.

So be it: a man takes his own life. He's one of many I suppose.

In this generation, it's the absence of these men that defines us.

Simply their presence, not their qualities but the fact that they're not a cipher to fill with our own images-- that presence is enough to set people apart.
