It's really easy to use, I'll give it that. I use it to convert .wav files to mp3, and for other light tasks. For anything more complex I use Peak.

Random question that needs an anwser. Remember the pants that you Crazy Johnny and Rooster all wore? Well I need to know what they were called because Rooster wants me to bring him a pair when I go to Ireland in two weeks. Thanks love. I love the song.

carhatts, you'll wanna get the ones with the reinforced knees. as i recall dean used to wear a pair he'd made by cutting the top off a pair of overalls. black as i recall.

for that added authenticity i'd recommend going down to the tracks and finding some genuine american train grease. i'm sure he'd appreciate that.

glad you enjoyed the song.

Also bring him some Anbesol and rubbing alcohol. He'll know what to do with it.

I'm sure the last thing Dave wants is to come back to Louisville this soon.

Unless it's to see me (and what's in my pocket).

I've been using a nice, simple, small recording software called Audio Maestro that I got off Tucows.com. Not sure if it comes in a Mac version, but it's a shareware program (30 day evaluation, and I think it's only $20 or so to register). I'm the furthest thing from an audio gearhead (just tell me what color/shape the end of the cord is, don't go throwing around fancy jargon like "RCA splitter to 1/8" gold"), and I managed to figure out how to burn my records to CD with it. It has a file converter, recording (either from line-in, mic, or "what you hear" which is whatever your computer is playing at the moment), a pretty simple editing suite (cropping tracks, removing noise, I don't use much more than that, but I think it does more), a burning utility and a CD ripping utility. All in separate little programs. Nice n' easy ( ... )

wow!! thank you, right now i've got audacity on the ibook but haven't gotten to use it cause the damned cords shorted out. i really want audacity to be awesome, just like i want everything that is open source to be awesome but i'm not sure just yet.

i'm pretty hooked on the telephone mike idea, and i've gotten a pile of good advice on how to make one up. i'll let you know once it happens.

i'm really glad you liked the song, as soon as i get the the ibook up and running again i've got a bunch more ideas to flesh out...oh a please send the song to as many folk as you'd like, specifically musicians and pass along the email address cannonwill502 at gmail.com

i really can't play a damn thing and need to run across as many musicians as possible, so if you know anyone who'd be game help them get in contact.... and of coure i could always use an accordian track or two...

Cool! I'd love to know the telephone thing. As far as accordion tracks go, as long as it's simple and in G/C/F (I have a 3-row Tejano button box, not a keyboard accordion)I'll hop on. I'm not great, I'm all self-taught and picked the hardest type of accordion to play (so nobody does, and nobody teaches it), but I sit around the house listening to music, attempting to accompany everything from Edith Piaf to Hogscraper to the Residents.

I'm in the process of building something between a homemade middle-eastern stick fiddle and a cigar box banjo. I don't know if it will work out, I've never tried anything like it before and I'm not really a stringed instrument player, but hopefully it will make some crazy noises at least. And it gives me an excuse to use the chisels and baby hand-planer and fill the living room full of wood shavings.
