Used to the cold here and the silent shiver of the salt-flavoured wind off the sea.

Man creates his own world, of fences and gates, of space and place and time but it's all the same, all a way of measuring off what doesn't truly belong to him.

I could feel it in my flesh as if I had the Sight.

the rules are written in a thin, silken thread that glistens when the light is right and breaks when touched too deeply.OK, I'll stop now. I confess to using, too often, the cliché of 'If I told you all my favourite lines I'd just be repeating your fic back at you'... but this time... I honestly had to restrain myself from copying the entire thing and pasting it in the reply box ( ... )

Thank you so much! I was so worried about this just being vague first person rambling, maybe because I hadn't used this POV in a few months and I wanted to hold onto at least a little bit of this bigger idea rather than a specific character.

This is such a crazy idea for a fic, but I love it. You worded it perfectly, with just the right amount of horror.

Thank you. Yeah, it's definitely... I was talking to Snoy about it and I was like, there's no plot. But there is a plot. The Dementors are at Azkaban and then they leave and attack people. Very plotty. But there's not a distinct, developed conflict. It's just... sneaking.

Thank you so much. /rambling.

Huh. Wow. There's a lot of beautiful writing on this comm, but it's rare when you come across a story where the words taste good in your mouth. The opening was very poetic, and this is such an unusual (creepy?) idea. Way cool! Now I'm looking over my shoulder, thanks ;).

Thank you so much! *is floored*

*looks over your shoulder for you*

Nope, you're fine. Just remember that in the Muggle world, the dementors are all in our mind. ;)

I really felt the subtle horror in this story. It didn't blare out at you screaming "I'm about a Dementor and I'm dark and scary and evil!" it just told you, straight up, that this is the way it was, is and has been and it whispered about the true horror of Dementors. About the cries of their victims, about their careless apathy and yet understanding of their presence.

It even showed that Dementors had things they (almost) fear. It's not just a patronus that can make them want to flee.

... Also, Go-Go Voldemort! The world, he said, as if it were a jewel to hold tight between our callused fingers, the world. ::snuggles him:: I can see him thinking of it like that. Like a child, really. "I want!" "Why?" "Because they don't want me to have it."

As always, love your stories, love your style and love that you took the time to finish this, as I know you haven't been feeling 100% lately.

Thank you so much! Actually, every time I got melancholy this weekend, it really put me in the mood to look over this again. ;)

I think my image of the Dementors here was informed to some degree by talking with nimori a few weeks ago when I was in Canada. She RP'd a dementor awhile back and he was this incredibly innocent creature who just needed to devour souls. I think mine is a bit more aware than that, but I definitely got some ideas that helped shape this from her.
