Used to the cold here and the silent shiver of the salt-flavoured wind off the sea.

Man creates his own world, of fences and gates, of space and place and time but it's all the same, all a way of measuring off what doesn't truly belong to him.

I could feel it in my flesh as if I had the Sight.

the rules are written in a thin, silken thread that glistens when the light is right and breaks when touched too deeply.

OK, I'll stop now. I confess to using, too often, the cliché of 'If I told you all my favourite lines I'd just be repeating your fic back at you'... but this time... I honestly had to restrain myself from copying the entire thing and pasting it in the reply box.

It's just so...just so...goddamn, girl! It's just so expansive; it goes beyond the little fantasy world of any book, beyond even the surface world in which we walk and talk. It takes the Dementors not as characters but as an idea--an idea that was powerful already in canon, but which you've made larger-than-life, pervasive and all-consuming here. And it's terrifying, nebulous, too much to fathom, and yet at the same time right there over my shoulder.

I won't shake this one off for a long, long time. And I mean that in the good way.

Thank you so much! I was so worried about this just being vague first person rambling, maybe because I hadn't used this POV in a few months and I wanted to hold onto at least a little bit of this bigger idea rather than a specific character.
