Question to all and sundry: when is the first time we see Harry, Ron or Hermione cast the Lumos spell in the books?

Question- I seem to remember that there's a scene in Goblet of Fire where they're discussing casting a spell on a dragon, only to have someone point out that the dragon is too big for the spell to work properly. Could anyone point me to that?
