The outskirts of Yuma, Arizona:

Just before dawn, the sky is slowly brightening from black into blue. Coyote is nothing more than a dim shape on the side of the road, in her dark leathers. The chrome on her bike shines dully in what light there is.

Looks like she's waiting. Pretty patiently, too. For her.

Somewhere on the Southern coast of Alaska, in the Glacier Bay Wilderness, there is a very cold coyote.

The temperature is hovering around freezing, but she feels like she's been trudging through the same snowbank for hours.

"It might help if you told me exactly what you were looking for," she bitches under her breath, not really expecting a reply

When Coyote troops into her garage early in the morning (for her), the last thing she expects to see is Raven. He's crouched on the floor, black coat pooling behind him as he pokes at the feather embedded into the concrete.

She sighs. "Raven. When I told you to get a life, I did not think I needed to specify not mine. What are you doing here?"

Somewhere in Arizona:

Zack is eating french fries and drinking coffee at a park picnic table.
