You really should watch 'Broken', bb! It's a great episode and since you're not overprotective of Huddy, I really think you'll enjoy it. And apart from the first 2 or 3 minutes House isn't really insane.

But it's impressive how spot on your comment was, even without seeing the episode.

Mmkay, I shall. Yeah, usually I am, but not with House since I'm pretty equal with my H/W and H/Cu love, and totally down for Stacy too. Just not Cameron. Never.

Ty bb. I've *read* a lot about it, I suppose.

And icon love. ♥

I knew you had common sense. ;-)

Thanks, right back at ya! Both of them.

When I first watched it and he didn't mention Cuddy or even Stacy I was like WTF? but I understand why he wouldn't mention Cuddy. He was obviously still hurt by Cuddy being with Lucas, and I doubt he would want to talk about his rollercoaster of a relationship with Cuddy and how many times they've both screwed up over the years., it would have been painful. The way he talked about Lydia didn't sound like he was pining for her or that his pain was about her. He had moved on, he had closure with her, which is why it was much easier to talk about Lydia vs. talking about Cuddy.

Idk if that makes sense but that's just how I saw it.

Also, OT but the night before that episode aired I actually had a dream/nightmare that House mentioned Lydia to the patient. I have no idea what happened in my dream, just that I didn't like it. So I kinda freaked out when he actually did mention her in the episode since I had just dreamed it.

I just had so many problems with the episode as a whole.
so i really don't know what to say.
I absolutely flipped out when the promo for the ep first ran and it was like house will have a no holds bar question with a person.
and the only information we found out was that Lydia "changed him".
so i'm as lost as you. i'll have to go back and read the other comments but i'm off to work now.

also, i can't rewatch this episode because of cuddy and her magical homing device uterus, its ridiculous. And I don't think it's ridiculous that she found the baby. I think it's ridiculous in the way she found the baby. "wait there are 4 extra towels here? wait isn't there supposed to be a third cart?" holy shit. Cuddy takes micro managing to a whole new level. seriously. a whole new level. Not only does she do everything at the hospital (teach, broker deals, manage doctors, manage the OR room, manage the clinic, manage the nurses) but she does EVERY THING. down to the number of towels in a room.

S6 is kinda sucky in that aspect. I WAS TOTES A FAN OF THE WHOLE "We're divorcing. BUT REALLY, I LOVED YOU. KIND OF. SORT OF. HEY, I MARRIED A DYING GUY, MAYBE I'M A LITTLE SCREWED UP AND NOT MS PERFECT-PANTS. LET'S HAVE SEX," THOUGH.

I thought that was fucked up. They really wanted us to think that Cameron was the screwed up one here? CHASE DELIBERATELY KILLED ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. HELLO?!

That was bad, too, but Cameron's incessant series-long I CAN FIX PEOPLE, I'M AN ANGEL OF SWEETNESS act annoyed me. I think I even stopped flailing during "Help Me" to reply to House's "I'm the most screwed up person in the world," with "Dude, have you met Wilson or Cameron?"

BUT YEAH, THE CHASE THING--did they even reference it again? Like, he goes insane over it for a bit and then....all is well? House even makes a joke, I remember, about leaving him alone with a patient, and he just grins. Nice getting over it, there.

I think that Lydia (I bow to Franka Potente, great actress for a very interesting character) was necessary in that moment of House's life. Mayfield was a journey of healing and learning. Even to meet and be able to have a relationaship, even if brief, with a woman after so many years, without his jealous lover, Vicodin. Lydia was there in the same vulnerable situation, and it was easy for them to connect. But in the outside world their own emotional baggages are different, and they return to their paths. House is ready to expose himself with Cuddy, to risk humiliation (which he receives) for her because Lydia proved him he wasn't a dry sponge in terms of real emotions (not fueled, or blocked by rage and vicodin) towards a woman. Then obviously his pessimism of reason makes him say that we are all alone... and Cuddy was with the idi... ahem... Lucas.

So basically I think the second dialogue was all about Cuddy, House was there, still struggling, coping with a man who had already lost, and who was working as a mirror.

"I don't think his experience with Lydia invalidates anything he felt/feels for Cuddy."
I agree with that and we have the viceversa, her experience with Lucas invalidates anything she felt/fells for House.

I think House thought Cuddy would hate for all he did and tried to move forward.

I'm all OK with what most people here say. One thing has bugged me ever since "Broken" though: I just don't buy it that Cuddy never showed up at the asylum and even less that House never mentioned Cuddy to Dr. Nolan.
