I haven't said much about the whole gambling issue since my "coming-out" party, but... I suppose I really DID hit the ultimate bottom, emotionally speaking anyway, cos' I done been clean for almost a month. :) Ever since that story and posting(s), I haven't put my hands to one ticket. :D ( Read more... )

We've always had to borrow for "surprises" like his pics and stuff--not always due to the gambling, but it doesn't help, of course. The idea that I'm *giving* my mom more money than I'm BORROWING is nice, lol.

It's hard, these addictions, but we've done pretty good, huh? *hugs tight*!

Oh this sounds wonderful! I'm so glad for you! *squooshes*

OK, I have something I need to ask you for, and it's giving free unasked for advice which is never good, but pleasepleaseplease don't leave the engine running and keys in the car when you run inside--it only takes a second for a good thief to jump in your car or even get a locked door open when they see the keys inside even with people around, and this is exactly the thing that car thieves watch for--an open opportunity. The last thing I want to hear when you're on such a good roll is that your car got stolen. I know it's helping you not to dawdle and bing as a result, but maybe you could use something else, like a stop watch that you could use to have a contest with yourself and see how fast you can make your in-and-out time. I'm apologize if this is too much of an intrusion. I just got scared when I saw you say that.

Yeeeea, it's unasked for. Lol. I know the concerns and it can happen anywhere, but I'm from a town where people all but leave their doors open with neon signs advertising it, and nothing happens. Perhaps that's being too naive, and yea, it happens, but locking doors is rare around here. Plus, the main place I go to that sells my brand of cigs (they're not sold everywhere) at the cheapest is one of the busiest Mom 'N Pops shops ever. Not to mention getting in and out of the parking lot is impossible at times (no, really, it is. You sometimes have to wait through two lights at the intersection right by it). I've lived here my whole life, and 36 years has gone by without one break-in, broken window, etc., whether car or house.

And again, yes, it can happen anywhere/anytime/anyone. But it's kind of a way of life here. *shrugses* I know how you mean it, babe. *hug*

OK, just had to say it, because I would kick myself if I didn't and it happened.

Once pointed out, I trust you to know your turf.

*hugses back*

It's okee! I know what you're talking about. Believe me, I triple-quadruple the lockdown when I go other places, like in the city an stuff. I keep saying this, but yes, I KNOW it's naive. I don't do it everywhere, at any rate ( ... )
