Harry's Birthday

Jul 30, 2006 03:10

Semi-open RP down by the lake.Lily stood in a small clearing by the lake and looked at her handiwork. Trees were strung with fairy lights, there was a large, enchanted bonfire complete with salamanders (though, to be honest, the salamanders hadn't been intentional), and there were several tables and chairs about the area, each with it's own ( Read more... )

Ginny arrives in her best new frock from Greece, with small army of House Elves in tow. They're carrying huge platters of steaks, jacket potatoes, all sorts of biscuits and crisps, big bowls of candy and as a special treat, Chicken Souvlaki and Baklava. There are also big buckets with butterbeer bottles, pumpkin juice and mead and firewhiskey for the adults. She waves at Lily as she approaches, and immediately orders the House Elves to arrange the food. She also places her wrapped gifts on the end of one of the tables to begin the present pile.

"Everything looks wonderful! I'll just run back to Slythendor and get Harry and we'll be back in a few moments. Oh! He's just going to love this. You've done a wonderful job, Lily, and the cake is spectacular!"

She ran back to Slythendor as quickly as she could, hoping Harry was there and dressed so they could return to the party before the guests started arriving.

Harry arrives, hand in hand with Ginny. He's wearing his jeans and his old Gryffindor Champion sweatshirt, he looks around in awed delight.

"Is this, is this all for me?"

Lily grinned at him, moving from where she'd been arguing discussing with a House Elf the difference between fairy lights and bugs that needed to be swatted. Hugging Harry tightly, Lily said, "Happy Birthday, son." She really felt, on some level, she didn't want to let go. Lily wished she could give Harry the sixteen birthdays she'd missed, but, of course, that was impossible. So now she was just left with an aching hope to make this one as good as possible. To let him know how much she loved him, how proud she was of him, and how brilliant of a man he'd become.

Pulling back a little she looked at him, laughing, "Of course it's for you, love. Not every day a Wizard turns eighteen, yeah? Got to spoil you a bit." She smiled softly at him, brushing a bit of his hair away from his forehead and straightening his sweatshirt. She'd deny the fact that a tear might have fallen. Finally, stepping away from him, she grinned. "Most of this is Ginny's doing. You've got a brilliant girl, there, son. Don't forget that."

Ginny stood back and watch Lily hugging Harry. She was so thrilled to see how much all their planning affected him.

When Lily stepped away she gave Harry a tight hug as well. But she couldn't possibly take as much credit as Lily was giving her. "Oh, no! We planned it together! You're mum's a great party planner, Harry, and we had a lot of fun doing it. Did you see the great cake she made you?"

Primavera, who'd already owled Ginny and had a bit of a discussion about plans for after Harry's party, showed up a bit late, but not so late as to appear extremely rude.

"Hey, Prima!" Ron jogged over, coming to a full-stop at the Hufflepuff. "How you've been? Did you bring a gift? Uh, not to be greedy. If not, I'll write your name on Harry's card."

Primavera thought it was probably not a good idea to tell Ron that her 'present' was helping Ron's sister pick out lingerie. So she'd come prepared for this. She held out a little box.

"It's a tie. Wizards wear dress shirts sometimes, right? When they're not wearing robes? Or under them?"

If Ron had been allowed to open the box -- which he wouldn't be, because it was all giftwrapped up -- he might not have seen anything strange about the tie, depending on what sorts of Muggle artifacts Arthur Weasley was known to bring home.

"A 'tie'? Who's Harry going to tie up? He could always use Incarcerous in that case, right? So... And they wear ropes or chains around their clothes?" Ron scrunched his nose. He had to talk to Harry about this.

"Anyway, ignore me, Prima. I'd bet Harry'll think it's wild. Want I should put it with the other presents?" He gently tried to take the box from her grip.

Adam walked down to the lake smiling happily at all the decorations. He carried a small, nicely-wrapped package the size of a ring box in one hand.

"Hullo," he said to the group at large.

"Hey everyone!" One hand resting on Mokuba's shoulder lightly, Ryuuji entered the clearing, a rectangular package tucked under one arm. Eyes bright with anticipation, he scanned the party for any signs of the birthday boy, smiling at anyone who caught his eye.

He'd invited Seto to come as well, of course, but Seto hadn't wanted to and Ryuuji knew better than to argue every little thing with Seto. If he did that, it just meant that Seto wouldn't listen to him when it was important.

So instead, he and Mokuba were there. Double trouble, packaged in golden skin, dark hair, and impish grins.

Harry waves from where he's talking to Ron, smiling.

Ryuuji waves back brightly, with an easy grin, but doesn't make any move to butt in on Ron's conversation with Harry. He and Mokie can wait until Harry's done!

((OOC: Reposted cause, hey! I can read! *facepalm* XD))

Lily spotted Ryuuji and Mokuba, vaguely recognizing them from Anthony's Herbology grading class. She wandered over and grinned at them both. "Hullo, I'm Lily. I don't think we've met."

"Happy Birthday, Harry!," Ed said as soon as he saw Harry. He was carrying a small, hastily wrapped package under his arm.

"Hey Ed, thanks a lot!" Harry is beaming ear to ear and scarfing cupcakes in between speaking. "I'm glad you could come!"

"It's no problem- Hey, I brought you a present." Ed held out a small wrapped object. Underneath the wrapping was a silver (or at least silver coated- Ed had to use a whole sickle for that) pocket watch.

It wasn't terribly fancy but it was still well-made. Ed had made it alchemically and he was always a stickler for detail when it came to that.

Lily had been walking by and was really curious to see what Ed had gotten her son stopped to greet Ed.

"Hello," she grinned at him. "No punch, you'll notice. Thank you for coming, Ed!" Glancing at the present, she said, "That's beautiful, mate. Where did you get it?"
