Yule potluck party post is here! Open RP for all school

Dec 21, 2010 23:03

On the day of the Hufflepuff-hosted potluck, the Great Hall had been transformed to accommodate the event, courtesy of Skwisgaar, a few of his bandmates, and several other helpful volunteers from Hufflepuff -- and one Ravenclaw. Skwisgaar and Toki's adoptive dragon-son, Smaug, had assisted with arranging some of the heavier items ( Read more... )

((Toki, Nathan, Pickles all appear with permission.))

Skwisgaar had decided to dress up for the occasion, wizarding style, and looked to be wearing a regular jackoff's average yearly income: his was a robe of rich, black velvet brocade, with delicate silver embroidery edging the collar and fitted sleeves, which formed draconic motifs with tiny sapphire gemstone accents. The torso was also fitted, with the rest of the robe left to drape loosely below the waist, every part of it hand sewn to accommodate and accentuate his over six and a half foot frame. Underneath he wore a black dress shirt, since it was partially visible, and his usual pants, skull belt, and boots since they were not. He was also wearing his deddy teddy bear prefect hat.

The clothing obviously hadn't been his idea (Jasper had given him the robe as an early Yule gift and had urged him to wear it to the party, while Toki had insisted he wear his prefect hat), but once he'd gotten used to them, he didn't mind them so much. The robe wasn't really like wearing a dress, ( ... )

Sweden kept sneaking glances at Skwisgaar, hoping he opened his yule gift soon. He was fond of the guitarist, in the 'I helped raise you' sense (which makes sense only in the mun's head) and hoped Skwisgaar liked it.

After Skwisgaar had perved on Toki for a good while, had taken a handful of cigarettes from Nathan's dispenser, and had enjoyed some of the Swedish food (which was an entirely welcome change from the subpar imitation the house elves would produce on request), he did turn his attention to his Yule Goat gifts -- and was plainly surprised that whoever had given them evidently knew him and his tastes, or else had incredible luck with guessing. Anything was possible at Hogwarts ( ... )

"D'you like it?" Sweden asked shyly. He could tell that Skwisgaar did indeed like them, but it was polite to ask.

((Tagging in both Cthulhoo and the Shoggies here- they are out at the bonfire, as the Great Old One is too impossibly huge to fit in the school.))

A horde of Shoggies, each creatively wearing a headband marked with kanji which could be basically translated as 'unspeakable', and some partially draped with semi-eaten fur robes, gathered by the side of the Lake, with numerous voices piping at once. Mostly, these voices were calling out things such as, "Great Master Cthulhoo! It is your wake-up call!", "We call you! The stars are right for a party!", "Bring snacks!", "OH MY GREAT CTHULHOO I SEE FOREVER" (a number of Shoggies had gotten into some drugged food back at the party inside, which unlike magic did affect them), "IA Cthulhoo! Fhtagn!", and far less pronounceable things. Without any proceeding sign an impossibly huge head, green and tentacled, rose above the waters, followed by most of the squamous horror's upper body. How exactly it was that Great Cthulhoo fit in the lake was one of those many mysteries of Hogwarts, which ( ... )

There were aliens at Hogwarts of course. But this? This was eldrich. It loomed. And the shoggie-things tearing into the whale carcass were their own kind of horror. Miranda stared, openmouthed.

"HOLY HELL!" The water curse made her voice louder than it would have been. "CAN ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT!?"

"We can ALL see Great Master Cthulhoo!" a Shoggy shouted back. Dumb as it was, even it knew the sound of a human recognizing the eldritch horror that was Great Cthulhoo when they heard it. "We see you too!" called another- managing to do this at the same time as tearing into the whale due to possessing an irregular quantity of mouths. "We're at Hogwarts, not Hell," another helpfully attempted to explain.

The vast and ponderous mind of the Great Old One took a moment to notice Miranda, but after a moment the huge head turned in her direction. "And unholy would be more accurate, mortal." he clarified.

"UM." Miranda stood back. She was still screaming at the top of her voice every time she spoke. And that- that was scary. Maybe a bit cartoonish as well but still scary. "ALRIGHT THEN!" she managed.

Togged out in preppy finery, Andy Bernard flashed a nervous smile to the room in general. He'd already dropped off the present for his Yule Goat, which left his hands free for something he'd brought as a gift to the whole party. The gift of music.

The Nard-dog had his banjo strapped on, all ready to get this hootenanny started.

Dwight had opened his Yule goat gifts, after dropping off his own, rather bulky present, and had partaken in some of the wine. Seeing Andy with a banjo, though, he made his way over to his fellow Dunder Mifflin employee and produced a recorder, launching into a sprightly rendition of "Sleigh Ride" without any prompting. He was all for starting the party off right, with the gift of music!

"My man Dwight Schrute on the recorder! Give it up for Dwight!" Andy exhorted the general vicinity, before launching into "Sleigh Ride" in time with Dwight's piping.

The banjo twanged and Andy crooned along -- getting most of the words right, most of the time. It was a way easier song to remember than, say, the Kit Kat jingle.

Eventually, Dwight gave up on the recorder so that he could harmonize with Andy on the final verse of the song, and when it was done, even though no one else was around to do it for them, he applauded enthusiastically.

After opening her gifts, Cathy had admired herself in the mirror for quite some time. The mirror had had many unflattering things to say about what she was wearing, so Cathy did her best to please it.

Thus it was that she made her grand entrance to the party, wearing the diamond neccklace she'd been given, as well as a glittering tiara that she had surprisingly not stolen from Elric. She thought the tiara provided a nice touch. But actually, it looked fairly gaudy.

Igor, though he hadn't known about the gift-giving, wandered into the party. He was feeling strangely confident, even if his head was spinning. Yes, the water-plot was still in effect.
There was a woman in front of him. Through his mental fog, he realized she was very sparkly and pretty and...

"That's a beautiful thing on your head." A very short man was smiling up at Cathy. "What kind of stones are those?"

Cathy looked down at the short man in front of her. He was neither pretty nor all that mysterious-looking, but she supposed that 'tis the season, and so she was happy to give him a moment of her time.

""They're sapphires," she said. "I think they bring out the blue of my eyes."

"They certainly do." Igor said happily. Some part of him was screaming out a warning, but he ignored it. "How, how would you like to come to the Hospital Wing and see my doomsday device plans?" What girl could resist?

Severus tried to blend with the Black Satin tablecloths. But he was accompanied by Draco, attired in Shining white, and his clothe's brought out Severus pale (sallow) skin, making the black frown of his eyes obvious. Neither was eating, and neither was drinking. Severus had learned well from the Tinky Winky incident. Draco looked disdainful and dutiful.

Lezard floated up to his friends. "No one forged my signature to the gift exchange list this year," he informed them, rather pleased. "Did either of you find yourselves drafted into it?"

Severus looked up and actually spontaneously smiled. It was Lezard, after all. "Lezard Valeth! Someone did forge my name to the gift exchange. But fortunately I drew the name of a studious young woman who appears to actually be a witch. And I was not entirely resentful as I ordered her gifts."

Draco smiled because he was free of the gift exchange. "No one knows me well enough to forge my name now." He was smug. He also stated the obvious. "You're floating." Then he remembered and stood. Lezard was to be held in esteem.

Lezard looked down. "So I am." He settled lightly on the ground. "Does this offend somewhat less?" But he laughed, and turned to Severus. "I have something for you; I believe this is the appropriate time for giving of gifts, even if they are not compulsory, is it not so?"

Without waiting for approval, he called the gift to his hands, using his own magic of summoning rather than any Accio or derivative native to Hogwarts.

"Shall you unwrap it?" His eyes were bright.
