Kameo didn't feel well. Something just...wasn't right. This place confused her. Magic was afoot, but it didn't resemble the magic back at the Enchanted Kingdom. And for some reason or another, she had to take a quiz.
Kameo turned to look at the oddly-colored person, then scratched her head. Uh, was this a tribe member? He certainly looked the part. Then again, the elf had no idea what was going on right now, so who knew. "Not exactly," she replied, shifting her weight to one foot. "I have transformation magic. It lets me turn into ten Elemental Warriors," Kameo explained. She would elaborate, but...where to start?
Pointy ears or not, it was a pretty safe bet he wasn't. "I see. I just asked because we don't really get many people here who already have some sort of magic."
Kameo nodded, pretending to understand. "Where's 'here' exactly? I don't really know what's going on," she admitted, looking around the room nervously with her hands on her hips. Note to self: never enter rifts with an unknown destination.
Sage scowled at the newcomer after reading the application. climb, roll, stretch... "Is there anything you can't do?" she asked with noticable jealousy. Being an empath/influencer with limited telekinesis seemed less impressive somehow.
"I'd suggest Sparklypoo. That's where the fondue is."
"Hmm?" Kameo turned to face the pale woman. That tone of voice did not sit well with her. It reminded her of Kalus when she was in a pissy mood. "Well excuse me," she sassed back, "I didn't choose to get the transformation magic." As for the second comment, she wondered if the comical-sounding name referred to a place or a city, but didn't respond to it.
Sage noted the sass. "Transformation magic?" she continued sarcastically "That's so- wait, you can turn into anything you want?" She would give so much to be able to do that. "Great, if you're into that kind of thing, I guess."
((Sage tends to pick up on people's feelings and strong memories, so if you want to mention any, that might be nice. If not that can be explained by Hogwart's psychic dampening fields.))
Kameo blew some hair out of her eyes. "No, just the Elemental Warriors in the Wotnot Book," she explained, reaching into her money pouch to withdraw the purple-and-gold tome. "I can't fly," the elf explained, if just to get this woman off her back. "...Mostly."
Metaphorically, she was just holding a one-way ticket to Sparklypoo.
((The thought of Kalus will bring up the fact that she's, for all intents and purposes, dead.))
A handsome young man, still appearing a bit wet, with a few lake leaves in his hair, came wandering into the sorting room.
He read over the application with a solemn expression, then offered the elf a dazzling smile.
"Dude," he said, by way of greeting. "You can breathe underwater? That is a great goodness. Once you are sorted, I shall take you to the lake and introduce you to my water brother, the giant squid, that you might grok him in fullness." He didn't get to introduce many people to the giant squid personally, since most people could not control their breathing to the extent that he could, and were therefore always having to be rushed to the surface to breathe before they could grok any of the wisdom that the squid had to offer. This female, though... provided she were capable of grokking the squid properly, he would at least not have to worry about her discorporating.
"Erm, thank you," she replied, turning in place to face him. She scratched her head nervously, as she tended to do. "It's not me, specifically, it's Deep Blue," the elf elaborated, failing to explain who Deep Blue was. She almost did so, but if he was going to use a foreign word like 'grok' and not explain it, why explain her vocabulary?
The young man gave a sage nod, even though, of course, he had no idea what or who Deep Blue was. "Deep Blue is a great goodness," he said with evident authority.
He considered the elf a moment longer, then inquired, "Do you grok anything of 'emo'?" he inquired. "I grok that Gryffindor would be the best house for you, but my water brother the giant squid has said that it is one of the houses of emo kids. He also said it was the house of people in spandex, but I do not grok spandex either."
"Hmm? Emo?" Kameo didn't find this continual conversation-juggling to be much fun. "Gothic is fine; I have an outfit in that style. But no, I'm not emo, and spandex chafes." She still had no idea what 'grok' was, and Gryffindor honestly brought the image of a castle gate decorated with stone lion-eagles. 'Griffin' 'door'. Ba-dum-tish.
"N--no, It's just a necklace," she answered. One could not seriously expect a princess to be without decoration; it was coincidence that Egypt and the Enchanted Kingdom produced a similar design. Still, Kameo had to wonder what this guy was talking about. Was 'Egypt' a neighboring territory? Entirely possible, considering the elf still didn't know where she was. "What's...Egypt?" she asked naively.
Octavian blinked. Had not everyone heard of that empire? Ah -- but Hogwarts had persons from other worlds ...
"Egypt," he said, matter-of-factly, "is an empire known to the peoples of Earth, within the window of a few millennia. If you are of a different world or time, you will not be familiar with it." He knew better than to make assumptions, and he felt he had committed an error in so doing. "Where did your necklace originate?"
Kameo more or less ignored the nonsense about Earth and different worlds. Maybe she'd understand later.
"I think I just bought it," she admitted, passing the necklace to her other hand. "I'm from a royal family,. Kameo added, to explain where she got the money.
Lezard Valeth gave the application some attention, for once. " 'I can climb, roll, stretch, breath underwater, light torches, survive in lava, squeeze under things, walk on fragile ice, and skate on top of water'," he read aloud, and looked over at the applicant. Pointy ears, hmm? He had certain ideas about elves.
"How has an elf been gifted with so many abilities? The ability to survive in lava, particularly, piques my interest." He peered at her through wire-rimmed spectacles.
Hey, a new person. Kameo turned to him, noting the tone of voice.
"Alone, I can't do any of that," Kameo admitted, "It's a list of everything my Elemental Warriors can do." She smiled. That would probably confused the spectacled person, but hey, she'd had her share of confusion here too.
Kameo opened her mouth to speak, but hesitated for a moment as she considered whether a verbal explnatation or a demonstration would work better.
"...Basically, what it sounds like," Kameo began. "They're basically creatures that are avatars of the elements. I have two of each: Water, Ice, Rock, Wood, and Fire." The elf fidgeted for a moment. "The surviving in lava comes from Thermite, who is...well, I'll show you."
An aura of light surrounded Kameo for a split second, and when it faded, the elf had been replaced by a large, flexible fire ant, holding some kind of (comparatively) huge, lava-filled, egg-like rock on its back. How was this for an explanation?

"Have you been traveling in Egypt?" he inquired politely of the new arrival.

"Elemental Warriors, you say? That does sound like a useful sort of being to have at your command, your Highness. Would you mind explaining a bit?"
