"Yes, it's hypothetical," Turlough said in a bored tone that clearly indicated that he's answered this already.

"Huh? Oh, right, the... the question about the..." Jesse nodded a few times to indicate his understanding, and then smiled and shrugged loosely. "Yeah, I mean, I figured. I guess I just... You know, thought I should ask since... I don't really know what the hell's going on here. Or like, where I am."

"You're at a school in Scotland, you're here to learn magic, and you're going to talk to a hat soon, so get used to the lunacy."

Jesse stared. "Uhh... OK..." He brought both hands to the sides of his head and pushed, as if that would make everything suddenly make sense. When it failed, he dragged his hands down his face and let them drop by his sides again.

"This is fuckin nuts. And I've had some ridiculous shit happen to me." He suddenly looked at the man in front of him. "So are you some kind of magician or something then?"

"It really is a pretty bizzare questionare, isn't it?" says a young man wearing sunglasses. "I think whoever wrote it was one of Delirium's favorites."

Jesse nodded at the first comment, eyes wide with exasperation.

"Who's Delirium?"

"Personification of insanity. Dream's little sister.

"Weirdest girl I've ever met, and that's saying something."

"Huh. So is that like... a metaphor or what?"

"Science is overrated. Technology's where it's at."

Jesse squinted a little. "Aren't those two statements kinda contradictory? Or, you mean like... Using technology's good, but making it sucks? 'Cause I agree with you there. Totally."

"No, I mean more no one cares much about science except the scientists. While everyone wants the newest computer, the newest game console, the newest iPod, the newest fill-in-the-blank. Not that I'm complaining, they're all hackable, I'm just saying."

Jesse shrugged. "Yeah, I guess that's true. I'm not really one to talk, though. I like to reap the benefits of science as much as the next person, and I sure don't give a shit about science. Fucking failed high school chemistry." He grinned. "Woulda probly done a little better at it if I'd realized it was so useful."

"If the Greeks were not 'into banging each other', there would have been no more Greeks. It's natural for all humans to enjoy copulation, whether they're of Hellenic derivation or not." Octavian delivered this information with dry practicality. He delivered it as though he had no idea what was actually meant. Of course, he knew it perfectly well. He simply found the casual reference unmannerly.

"Another thing. I reckon the hours of the day ante meridiem and post meridiem. The standard of post meridiem biotch I'm unfamiliar with." This, too, was delivered with an utterly straight face.

Jesse rolled his eyes. "Whatever, man. Look, I meant the Greek dudes liked banging each other. Least that's what I heard." Suddenly he took in the kid's clothing. "Hey, no offense, man, if... that's where you're from."

"I am a loyal son of the Republic. A citizen of Rome. Insult the Greeks if you like, it leaves no stain on our honor." Cicero or even Antony might have made this a piece of moving oratory. From Octavian, it was flat and near-emotionless. "I should point out that the relationship between master and student in the Greek tradition is as much spiritual as physical. But it is not something about which I have personal feelings. You have yet to explain 'biotch'."

"Ah. Roman, okay." He raised an eyebrow slightly at the information about the Greeks and the "master and student" relationship. Without intending to, he thought of Mr. White and his partnership with him; he blinked in alarm and mentally waved the thought away before it could get really disgusting.

"Uh... I don't know, it's just a thing I say. 'Bitch.' 'Biotch.'... 'Yo.'" He shrugged.

"You make it sound as though sexuality is something you are uncomfortable with," Yukimura observed, leaning on a column near one of the doors. Today, he is wearing a very feminine kimono.

((OOC: It would be completely normal to think Yukimura is a woman...he has a female Japanese voice actor and the mun is enamored of the seiyu...and sorry for the double post))

"What? No." He smiled uneasily, affronted but trying not to let it show. "I'm not... uncomfortable." He smiled again, more genuinely now because, hey, she was hot. "Just seemed like weird questions. I don't know what I was expecting. Been a weird day, you know?" he said shrugging. He held out a hand. "I'm Jesse."

Yukimura smiled, knowing the newcomer had taken him for a woman and letting him continue to think so. "It is a rather strange experience to come here," he said, taking the hand. "Sanada Yukimura," he replied, taking the proferred hand.
