Ssillissa had been at Hogwarts for a little longer than Bean had, but she was also still in the process of exploring the school. She had enough experiance with the place, though, to not be particularly surprised to see an extremely grubby little boy. Well, a little surprised at his age. She hadn't seen any small children, although it did make sense that there would be some. This was a school, after all.

"Are you losst?" she asked. "I know it took me a few weekss to get my bearingss around here."

"Yes," Bean said. It was true, in fact; and it didn't hurt to appear young and confused. "I've just been allowed to leave the Sorting Room, and I'm looking for Ravenclaw."

He'll think of an explanation for the soot when necessary.

Ssillissa nodded. "Ravenclaw iss my own housse," she replied. "Would you like me to walk you there, or directionss?"

Rose takes a different approach.

'How long have you been a chimney-sweep?'

"Not long," Bean says. "But I wanted to see what was up there."

Not a lie. He just wouldn't explain why - people expected children to be illogical, didn't they?

Permanent Rose Casson can be illogical with the best of them.

'So. What is up there?' the small girl demands.

"Soot."

Bean holds out his hands for the girl's inspection, and to prove what he's saying is truth.
