Not quite prefect hours but an open rp in the Gryffindor common room with the other prefect.

It was another of those times you didn't ask where Jack had acquired something from. This time it was a few arcade machines. Which had been suitably adapted to work in their new location and the best part was for free. It was just as he'd said, there was DDR two of them together, a rather worn but still none the less working original Pacman and ( Read more... )

Ray was kind of in awe. Oh man. Pacman. Of course, he never memorized those maps or anything... and oh man! He walked right past the guy on the couch to examine the shooting game, clearly delighted.

"... classic. Wicked classic."

"Finally someone appreciates them!" Jack commented from the sofa and made no effort to move. "All for free! No change needed, enjoy."

"What, have people been knockin' the arcade?" He shakes his head. "Maybe they'll learn their lesson when I beat'em repeatedly. You're the prefect, right?" Ray had checked out his competition a little.

"I've had concerns about the noise." Though when did Jack actually listen. "That sounds like a challenge." Jack laughed and sat up. "Yeah, Captain Jack Harkness." He offered a hand. "Jack's fine. We have on of those back where I work, or run even. It's a bit of fun when we're not busy."

Brenda Johnson noticed the new machines as she was passing through the common room and stopped to inspect them.

"Ohhh, a first person shooter game? I'm so there." She grinned. "I've been worryin' about losin' my chops with a gun. How do we work this thing? Tokens? Magic spells?"

"Just press start." Jack grinned back. "Let me guess, a cop?"

"Yep. Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson, LAPD. An' you're our new prefect, I guess?" She put out a hand to shake.

"Lesson One 'bout Hogwarts: Pull your Glock in the Sortin' Room when you've been shanghaied here, an' an elf will zap it into a wooden pop-gun. I've re-armed myself with a Sortin' bribe, but there's not much in the way'a target practice 'round here, it seems."

Jack shook the hand. "Captain Jack Harkness, Torchwood I guess." Jack nodded. "Jack, please. Let's hope they never find my two that I keep though one is more sentimental value the other a Christmas present."

The machines weren't completely alien to Fraser, but they were close to. Video games weren't exactly common in the Yukon, and less so in his particular corner of it. A little unsettled by their sudden appearance in the Common Room, he approached them curiously, only to spot Jack on the couch. \

"Ah! Captain Harkness." He brightened. "I take it you're on duty?" he inquired, nodding towards the little sign. "I've actually been meaning to talk to you."

Jack sat up at the voice. "Yes." More sort of. "Sure!" He pointed to the end of the sofa as he moved. "Take a seat, what's up?"

"Well, actually, I have something for you." Fraser held up a hand. "Would you mind giving me a moment?" He tipped his hat politely to the prefect.

Jack was intrigued. "Course not, I'm here to listen so feel free."

*The chimera ambles unconcernedly into the room, and jumps nearly a foot in the air at the noise from the arcade machines.* What the hell? Never seen a box make a noise like that...

*He looks over at Jack.* Um... what are those and are those squares on the front supposed to be glowing like that? *He is, of course, referring to the screens.*

"Arcade machines. Video games, some of the classics, well Pacman is. DDR is more amusing... feel free to play them. Yeah it's how you see what happening, they're the screens." He explained.

*Zel sighs in relief.* Sorry. I guess I come from a low-tech universe - glowing's generally been a bad sign up til now. But if that's just how you see what's going on in the boxes... or the pictures, or whatever...

Sorry. Like I said, my universe seems to have favored magic over technology - we're back in the Middle Ages. Zelgadiss Greywords. Call me Zel. *He holds out a hand.*

"Don't worry about, something new is something to learn about." Jack shook the hand offered. "Cap'n Jack Harkness, Jack's good. Middle Ages, huh, someone else slightly out of their time, though for me it's the other way originally. Fifty first century. But I've been living in this time for a good time now. If there's anything I can do to help just say, send me an owl or come find me when I'm about." He was being a good prefect.

"PACMAN." JD said, awestruck, before he bounded across the common room, tripping over two chairs, a sofa, a table and a Cat (it could probably talk, so it wasn't as bad) and an oddly placed bucket, but he arrived in one piece, only a little bruised! "JACK." He said with a huge grin on his face, "PACMAN." he repeated, pointing to the arcade game.

Jack turned, he knew what was coming next as he shut his eyes but still pretty much could tell what had happened before JD was closer. "Yeah JD, but you can't play." He said in all seriousness as he lay out on 'his' sofa.

JD's face fell as he stared. "It's broken?" he asked, greviously wounded by how Pacman could betray him so.

"No." Jack made a face that said 'don't be silly' then tried not to laugh. "I say no, but." He sighed. "I'm just some guy so you don't have to listen to me."
