Rose,

Well, you know me, can't just sit on my arse all day. I'm in trouble, aren't I?

Meet me up in the tower, like usual (astronomy, I mean)?

"I only really talked to her the one time she came to find me. I think she wants to figure Jack out first before tackling me, so I don't think I'll be seeing her again."

He sat himself on the edge of a table. "It's a bit disturbing. I never thought Jack changed quite that much. JD's a good kid and all, but being married means all the sex he's getting is JD. And Jack, being in a one-person relationship for an extended period of time? If he can pull it off, than good on him, but...it's just not Jack."

"I better not see her. I will be tempted to punch her in the face a bit," Rose muttered under her breath.

"It's not just that," she went on. "I mean, Jack is not just about shagging, appearances to the contrary. But I just worry that it won't end well. No matter how good they are together. Romantic isn't always very realistic." It clearly hurt her to say that, too.

He nodded slowly. "I think it'll only take one big fight. Not over the trivial, not over normal...relationship...stuff," he waved a hand to vaguely generalize it all, "but something big. It doesn't help so much with Coxy-boy being the way he is. I can't help but wonder why JD still looks up to the guy, yet me and Jack are always this close to decking him. But I don't see how it can go on for as long as they hope. I think Jack's only hoping for the best outcome possible. JD, well...he's a bit on the sensitive side. And what'll they do once they're out of here? Back to Torchwood? Bring 'em along on the TARDIS?" Oh yes, still hoping to find it, one of these days. "Will they settle down nice and proper, house, kids, grow older together, watch Jack watch JD die? It makes me wonder if they've really thought it through."

"It's really not our place to judge, though." She absently traced some old ink stains on the desk with her fingertips.

"Maybe they haven't thought it through, but there's always a good reason not to do something, if you think hard enough. I don't think Jack's wrongheaded, exactly. I just worry about them. They're happy. But something will happen. It always does."
