Edit w/ READ THIS FIRST: My posting about RP problems and such does not mean I am seeking help for them every time. This post in particular is meant just to explain some stuff that is going on and if necessary, discuss related things in the comments.
Okay, so, it was recently decided through a conversation with

If the internet connection is cruddy and can't support Second Life, I'll bring back the arena. I have tons of new ideas now, and a means to implement 'em.
That said, I have a coder/scripter in Second Life who MAY be able to bring the Arena to life THERE, in full 3D. I just need to work out the kinks. But would you people go there to play instead?

2) I reiterate: not interested in SL.

Code your own. I'd play in it.

I agree with the sentiment above (using a battle system.) Even though it would be a bit slow to implement, I've already seen so many ideas to it that I think it'd be wasteful not to.
You're still gonna say "only use OCs created specifically for this", right? I think it would be a very good and very safe idea, as there is 0% chance of loopholes or inconsistencies, and if a DC-style explosion were to occur (which is ridiculously impractical,) the blast would be contained.
Anyway, mostly just posting to maintain that I'm behind you on this, because you don't deserve to have your RP career end on its current note. If it were, you would always look back on it, and with a sense of grief. You don't need a final memory of something that does that to ya.

I would have to make sure that any major roles are NPC'd as well, in case people lost interest or dropped for any other reason; lacking irreplacable major characters is one of the top reasons for this change, as you know.

Sleep now. I woke up early today, so I'm crashing early here.

My proposition is to keep the core story mainly attached to your own characters, but allow the development of side-stories in the spotlight when it's agreed upon or when turnout is low.
Think of it like, sure you can just play EoT only going to what dungeon you need to do to continue, but sometimes you need to stop and do random runs to keep a less-used character from falling behind, y'know?
It makes things more dynamic, easier to host, and gives PCs an occasional main-character role without making the RP dependent on them. And you could allow like group splitting so instead of getting all the crystal fragments one by one, you split up and everybody get one. Or if someone has an emergency come up as far as their side-story, you could explain only some of the characters going as "Well, we can't all go because , ( ... )

For one thing, the whole deal with missing characters that I referenced in a recent post. I know that I'm not the only one who would be affected by that. It's one of the things that forced Emerald Chronicles down the drain, isn't it?

One of them, yes.

At least some part of all this mess now is because I was an idiot. I'm sorry.
