 Chapter One:
That year started out like every other. The school bell would ring, students would file through the halls on their way to various classes, more bells would ring, students would file back through the halls, etc etc. The only difference was one person. Yong Junhyung had always kept to himself, but when he didn’t even say hello to his two friends at the start of the day, they knew something was up.
“Yah, hyung!” Dongwoon, who was a year below him in school, shouted towards him. He walked up to his superior. “What’s the matter?”
Junhyung sighed, turning to glare at his friend. “Nothing is wrong, Dongwoon. Just stay away from me.” He resituated his backpack on his shoulder before walking away.
“What’s wrong with him?” Kikwang asked. He patted the younger on the back. “Don’t worry, Woonie. I’ll see what’s wrong.”
Kikwang didn’t have an opportunity to speak with him until phys ed. He waltzed over to his hyung in the locker room, slamming Junhyung’s locker closed.
“What was that for, Kikwang?” Junhyung snapped.
“Why’d you give Woonie the cold shoulder today? He was just worried about you, hyung,” Kikwang pouted, wrapping his arms around the elder’s waist.
Junhyung pushed him away. “Yah, do you know what personal space is? I’d like to have mine.” He walked off toward the door leading to the gymnasium, miffed about something.
“But I always hug you, hyung…” He pouted as he made his way after the others, filing into the gym to start class. They were already beginning on track and field. He stopped a few paces away from Junhyung, trying to keep his distance.
“Alright, everyone!” the teacher announced. “We have a transfer student from another district starting today. Be nice to him.”
Junhyung wasn’t paying attention to the teacher’s words, but as soon as the new student walked in, he felt his stomach lurch. He could feel his heart rate accelerating to dangerous heights. Ignoring everyone in the room, he turned and stalked out. He refused to be in the same class as him. The one who he wished would just disappear. In his haste, he hadn’t noticed someone in front of him, bumping into them.
“Hey, watch it!” the person said. Yoon Doojoon. One of the two known gays at the school. When he saw who it was, he straightened up a little. “Oh, it’s just you, punk.”
“I have a name,” Junhyung replied.
“You still think you’re tougher than me?”
Someone stepped out from behind Doojoon, smiling at Junhyung. “Hyung, I’ve seen this kitten whimper,” the transfer student said. His sudden appearance made Junhyung want to vomit.
“Who are you calling a kitten?” Junhyung crossed his arms over his chest as he asked the question. He tried to ignore the growing crowd in the hallway.
Doojoon smirked. “You know this loser, Seungie?”
The other nodded, smiling evilly. “He spent the summer being my bi-”
He was cut off by Junhyung punching him in the face. After his impulsive move, he ran for it. Angrily, Hyunseung and Doojoon followed him. They weren’t going to let him get away so easily. He was pulled into the closest room by someone. A hand covered his mouth, keeping him from screaming.
“Shhh, be quiet, hyung!” Dongwoon whispered. Kikwang peeked out of the small window in the door, seeing the transfer student and school thug run around in circles in their search for Junhyung. After a few minutes, they gave up and left.
“Why’d you punch him, Junhyung?” Kikwang demanded. “Are you insane enough to get on the school thug’s hit-list?”
“I didn’t hit the school thug. I hit the transfer student. Why would I end up on Doojoon’s hit list?”
Dongwoon sighed. “As soon as Kwangie told me about a new student in class, I looked him up in the school directory. He’s Yoon Doojoon’s Dad’s Uncle’s friend’s nephew.”
“So?”
“It means he’s protected by the Yoon Clan just as much as Doojoon. You mess with him, you end up on the Yoon hit-list.”
“Oh…” Junhyung looked at them. “I’m in trouble, huh?” His friends nodded, making him gulp. “I need to get out of here.” He pulled open the door, running into one of the very people he was trying to get away from.
“Looks like I found a stray kitty,” Doojoon laughed. He grabbed Junhyung by his shirt and dragged him out into the hall. “Yah, Seungie! I found your pet!” Hyunseung smiled, coming around the corner toward Doojoon and Junhyung. Kikwang and Dongwoon were cowering by the classroom door, too afraid to help their friend.
“Come here,” Hyunseung ordered.
“No.” Junhyung’s refusal made the elder male angry. “I’m not your pet.” He pushed Doojoon away from himself. “Leave me alone.” He turned and walked down the hall, heading straight for the doors to his freedom. He heard frantic footsteps behind him, knowing it was Dongwoon and Kikwang.
“Hyung! Hyung, wait!” The two of them ran up to him, both out of breath. “Junhyung, why are you acting out against them? They’re going to kill you!”
Junhyung turned cold eyes on them. “Go away.”
“What?” Kikwang looked at Dongwoon then back to Junhyung. “But, hyung-”
“I mean it, Kikwang. Go away. I want to be left alone.”
“I’ll call you later. Okay?”
“No, it’s not okay.” The eldest looked away, toward his parked car. “I never want to speak to either of you again.”
“Hyung, what the hell happened over the summer that made you like this?”
“Things happen, people are forced to grow up faster than they want to. Just go away, you’re annoying me.”
Without looking back, Junhyung hurried to his car, climbed in, and locked the doors. He blared music as he sped away from the school. He turned the engine off once he was in front of his house, getting out and running up the porch stairs. He went inside and slammed the door behind him. Luckily, he was the only one who lived there, his parents throwing him out after he got back from that place.
“Why won’t it go away?” he asked himself. He locked everyone of the locks he had put on his door. He went and locked the windows and the back door. He ran up the stairs, nearly falling as he hurried to get to the bathroom. He turned on the shower, stepping under the water spraying down. After a few minutes, he sat down.

Somebody make it stop…
